Sounds like you need to go into the BIOs and see if it is on, if not you might have to get a sound card and put it in a slot. That is all I know to do. Hope this helps.

How to get the missing volume of my computer

are you talking about the volume control on the task bar?
if yes, go to START>CONTROL PANEL>SOUND AND AUDIO DEVICES> and under "Device Vloume" tick "place volume icon in the taskbar".
I am presuming that you are using windows XP.

I hope you will see the volume control again on the taskbar.

I recently formatted my computer and am trying to reinstall the drivers, I have them all except now I notice that my sound device is missing from device manager. There is none listed, all the solutions I...

First off, yes, the D915 series of boards all have Audio on board, with Line In (Blue Conn.), Speaker Out (Green Conn.), and Mic (Red Conn.) on the back of the motherboard.

The product manual is available on the intel website:

It states that it includes a 6-channel audio subsystem based on the Realtek AL860 audio codec. The manual will eventually take you to the Intel driver download page:

The key, I believe to your problem, is to make sure you have:
1. the latest BIOS
2. the latest INF installed
3. the driver set for the ALxxx chipset.

Make 100% sure that within your BIOS that the Audio portion of the board is enabled.

Also, on Page 45 of the manual it speaks of the Front Panel Header (10 pin header between PCI slot and PCIe 1x), and notes the following:
To restore back panel audio, follow these steps:
1. Turn off all peripheral devices connected to the computer. Turn off the computer and
disconnect the AC power cord.
2. Remove the cover.
3. Remove the front panel audio cable.
4. Install a jumper on pins 5-6 (rear R channel).
5. Install a jumper on pins 9-10 (rear L channel).
6. Replace the cover.

Hope this helps.

I get error messages in blue and white writng after installing AC'97 audio driver, pls can anyone help me resolve the problem? Its an ASUS P4SP-MX MBoard.

1 - r u facing NO Audio/Sound issue...?
2 - is ur Volume Control not responding ?
3 - is ur Sound and Audio Device in Control Panel Grayed out ?
4 - Do u get a msg "No Active Mixer Devices Installed....when u try to open Volume Ctrl etc etc ?

if ur ans to any one of them is Yes...then u are being spammed by Microsoft....ur Sound Control IRQ is being frozen by a recent update from Microsoft....and no file update or any sound driver update can fix it, neither Microsoft is issuing any patch to fix it….
Full solution is available in my website (Support page)'s quite simple process to fix it, and I am not charging any money, just trying to do some service.
Copy the above address in the browser, replace + with dots...all the best
