Sender ID Sender Id - ecblank.gif dot.gif ecblank.gif This is a descriptive title that identifies the sender -- usually the location of your fax machine or the name of your company or office. It is printed at the top of every fax you send. You can enter up to 32 characters. We have a FAX-2820. this is a dumb question, but does the fax header line come from the sender when we are receiving the fax? Does a header go out on any fax we would send out?

Yes, The fax header should show you who sent the fax to you. Every fax is supposed to have a terminal ID (senders fax number and Name)

Fax reception fails

Hello Dear,

The error message 242 appears in HP Photomart C7180, when the remote machine (the fax machine at Fax Sender side), is having problem, and it is trying to receive fax instead of sending. So actually both these machines try to receive the fax at the same time.
On many fax machines it is possible to accediently initiate the fax reception when:
1. The paper is not loaded in the machine
2. Or The paper is not correctly loaded.

You may contact the fax sender to check the above things. There is absolutely no problem with machine at your end.

Thanks

When receiving an RX Report can't see the senders details

If you are paying for caller ID it can show the sender but only if the sender is not blocking caller ID. There's no way to go back and get that info.

How do I set caller ID to view on phone

Fax machines don't have caller ID, they only read what the sender has programmed into their fax machine. Such as NAME & fax number

getfile.asp?rid=3215 Product : imagePRESS C1, All Fax Capable imageRUNNER Models Title : Setting the TX Terminal ID print options Question :
What are the options to print the TX Terminal ID on received pages?

Answer :
The TX Terminal ID settings enables you to specify whether the sender information is printed at the top of every document that you send via i-fax. Information such as your i-fax address is printed, enabling the recipient to know who sent the document.

Note: If you set TX Terminal ID to 'On' you can also set the position of the Terminal ID information which is printed on the recipient's paper.

The default settings are:

TX Terminal ID: On
Printing Position: Outside
Display Destination Name: On

1) Press Additional Functions

2) Communications Settings

3) TX Settings under Common Settings.

4) Press the up or down arrow keys until you see TX Terminal ID

5) Select On or Off

If you select ON:
Select the printing position of the Terminal ID information, select 'On' or 'Off' for display Destination name, press OK.

Printing Position:
Inside: The Terminal ID information is printed inside the image area on the recipient's paper.
Outside: The Terminal ID information is printed outside the image area on the recipient's paper.

Display Destination Name
On: The destination's name registered in the Address Book is displayed in the Terminal ID information.
Off: The destination's name registered in the Address Book is not displayed in the Terminal ID information.

If you select OFF
Press OK

6) Press Done repeatedly until the Send Basic features screen appears.

Brother 4100e Fax Problem - Caller ID won't work with Fax Machine

Usually, fax machines don't have caller ID capability.. If the sender's fax number appears on the faxes you receive, it's just that they have programmed it into their fax machine as a header.

Manual Doesn't Work Either!

Fax machines usually don't have Caller ID. If you see the phone number on received faxes its because the sender has programmed it into their fax machine.

Intermittent problem of faxes not being rec'd from various areas

After a detailed discussion on chat, we got disconnected before accepting payment. This is not a problem with your fax, as it seems to be receiving most calls fine. I suggest printing out a report - Menu/Set, 2, 0, 2 - of caller ID history and having the phone company look into it further. Either there is a problem with your phone line, or someone is prank calling your fax from outside of your caller ID service area. Both are problems for the phone company to fix.
