Staarting to not get past certain discs mennu screens.....
I have had the player for about a year now & had no problems at all until recently. Certain discs (which had played well in the player before) have now stopped working. Sometimes they can't be read at all & I get a "Bad Disc" display. Or they will get to the menu screen & then just not go anywhere from there at all & eventually the player will shut itself off. Again 99.5 % of my discs are frunning fine on this player but I worry that this might spread to all of my discs eventually. By the way rhe discs in question play fine on all my other dvd/pc/laptops. It's only on my Memorex 2022. Any ideas??

We have had out Toshiba P25-S509 for a very long time. It's a great laptop and watching DVDs with a wide screen was great; That is, until the CD/DVD player was no longer recognized by the computer. We took it in (still under warranty) to have it fixed, only to not work again after a couple of months.
Now YEARS have gone by and I have bought another Toshiba (M305D-S4831) which is great unless you try to reboot and it doesn't fully start up. That's for another review, not this one... So, back to the P25-S509 and YEARS later. We just received two 1GB memory cards, which are being used to replace the "stock" two 256 MB memory cards. Well, the computer is MUCH FASTER and THE DVD PLAYER FINALLY WORKS!!! Woo-Hoo! $98.00 investment in memory cards saved up from ditching the older Toshiba.
Hope this review helps someone out there that might have had the same problem.

You are getting drop out of data from the DVDs, depending on the quality of the orinal DVD discs, some times they will deteriorate after few years. Look for any scratches on the lable side of the DVD. On some discs lable side where the reflective coating may not be protected well, if it is damaged it cannot be read.
If you haven't been having difficulty with your DVD player up until recently, you may wish to make sure that the DVD Rating function is not currently enabled. If this feature is turned on, playback would be prevented on discs with certain ratings (like PG-13 or R).
Should disabling this feature or changing the Rating setting fail to resolve the problem, you may wish to speak with a factory-authorized repair technician for further assistance. In some instances, if a player fails to spin an inserted disc it may be a sign that an internal connection has become loose or another electrical failure has occurred.
dvd players play only certain kinds of discs and formats. Older ones played -R's, most newer ones play everything. You have to look in manual, or on box before you buy player. If it won't play -R,+R, -RW,and +RW's I pass it by. Find out if your player is limited to certain discs. Some will play VCD and some will not. Some will play DIVX and some will not etc. Stick to the discs and formats your particular player is compatible with.
I wonder if you are trying to play burned dvds, if so that could be a major issue alot of players won't play burned disks, others will only play certain ones. another thing I have had problems with, though i don't know a fix. My samsung sometimes has a similar issue where it flat out will not play certain company dvds.
