I"ve created a password on

You can salvage your old user account by logging on as the "Administrator" user. Once you're logged in as the admin, you can reset your old user password. The Administrator user (by default) is similar to a "superuser" and has the highest access level to reset any user password.
If you don't know what your Administrator password is, you can reset that by rebooting into Safe Mode.

The best option here is to reset your account password. You can do this using either 1 of the 2 methods suggested by Microsoft Knowledge Base article #321305. In my opinion, the second method described on this page is most likely the easiest route:
Reboot Windows in Safe Mode.
Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Open box, type the following command, and then click OK: control userpasswords2
Click the user account that you forgot the password for, and then click Reset Password.
Type a new password in both the New password and the Confirm new password boxes, and then click OK.
Good luck!
Side note: To access Safe Mode, Click Start -> Shutdown (or Turn Off), and choose 'Restart'. Once the computer restarts, press F8 repeatedly on the keyboard until a Boot Menu appear (this *must* be done before the Windows boot screen appears). Finally, choose to boot Windows in Safe Mode and press Enter on the keyboard.

I got locked out of my laptop... i cant get to my main screen. i forgot the password at the microsoft xp screen before i can get to the start menu and all that.

turn the computer on. while it is starting press and hold the F8 key. this will bring up a list. Choose safemode using the arrow keys and enter. a load of white text will come up. when that has all gone, don't click your account, click the administrator account. once logged in as administrator. Click start and control panel. Click accounts. choose your account and click remove password. you can then restart the computer and let it start up normally. your password has been removed so you need to make a new one.

let me know if you have any trouble.

Lost administrator login name and password

Well, if this is your computer you purchased, ie: HP, Compaq, Gateway, etc. then more than likely the password is simple.... nothing. Not the word nothing, but a blank entry. Try that. IF not, then you could always press F8 while the computer powers on and then you can try to start the computer up into Safe Mode. and at the login screen there it may work. With the user name 'Administrator' and a blank password. If not, there are ways to remove Windows passwords.

Hi,

OPTION 1:

It is simple turn off your laptop.Restart and press the F8 key repeatedly until you get a menu that has an option to go into safe mode. Select the relevant option number then press enter.
Then it wont ask you for any password, just go to control panel>user accounts>add or remove user account, here change your password or remove it. Thats it you are done, shut it down and thn restart it and at your welcome screen enter da new pass.

OPTION 2:

Use hiren boot software.
its a bootable software which u have to write on a cd and boot the pc using that cd

Yes, when you switch the laptop on hold down the F8 key until you see a black screen with a list of white text, one of the options will be "Safe Mode", use the arrow keys to highlight safe mode (just safe mode, not safe mode with anything) and press return. The computer will start to the welcome screen and you will see a user-name you don't normally see called "Administrator". Click on Administrator and you will find it is not password protected (in spite of the fact that the Administrator account has more access to the system than any other account!) when the administrator profile loads it will ask you if you want to continue in safe mode and you do. click start, click control panel and click on users and groups now click on your son's user account and click remove password. now click back, click on the Administrator account and click change password, the old password should be left blank and you're new Administrator password should be something at least 7 letters, numbers and special characters (!@£$%^&*) long that you can remember. Now just restart and let it start up normally, once loaded advise your son to set a password he can remember or at least write down somewhere safe.
