I solved this issue by downloading the firmware update and installing it into the Blu-Ray player. Follow the instructions in the manual. It seem to work for me. Go to sharp usa website, download updates.

It looks like your TV is not HDTV capable, so you will need a box when the conversion takes place next year unless you have cable box or satellite TV receiver.
