Question about Plextor PX-716A (PX716ASW) DVD±RW Dual Layer Burner
I recently started having problems with my Optical drives after switching my motherboards. I switched to an MSI P35 Neo2 Intel based board after my other one went down the drain.
Ever since I switched out mainboards I have a hard time getting any form of DVD or CD to play on either of my Plextor drives. I have certain DVDs that I cannot watch, and only certain DVD Games will play as well. I have never had a problem playing CD formated games or discs to play. Any thoughts?

SOURCE: DVD drive
yoru writter is fine, it only detects what type of disk you are attempting to write to. please double check the disk you inserted, has to be new and not used. the only reason you will get this kind of message is when you inserted a finally burned disk, that is not set for multisession. this has nothing to do with your hard drive also.

hello, the dirver is not the issue, its the hardware itself. try to do this; control panel-administrativetool-imapi cd burning rom, and choose disable,.. Why? maybe the lens has not enough power...

It would be a better idea to set your plextor on another pata/ide cable as master since many plextor drives are known to conflict with certain hard drive models reducing their speed or corrupting the hard drive cache. I can't confirm this problem with your drive, but I usually set any plextor on a separate cable. That having been said however, you can easily set both drives as master and slave with the jumpers located on both drives. Your hard drive will show your jumper settings on the top of the drive, and your plextor DVD will be stamped on the rear near the 40 to 80 wire data cable with these letters cs, sl, or ma. Some will have the full name stamped (Cable Select, Slave, Master). Set your plextor jumper to Sl or slave mode. If you have a Western Digital there is an option to set it to master/single. Do not use this setting since with a slave drive it is no longer a single drive. Simply choose master or master with slave.
