Question about Optoma RD65 65" Rear Projection HDTV
I own an Optoma RD65 manufactured in May 2004; I do not have any power to the TV. I'm the 2nd owner of this set and was told that an Optoma Tech diagnosed the problem as being a bad power supply. I also noticed that the incorrect lamp was used 15kv 23h and not the 5kv 23 so the ballast could be a concern. I do not want to put too much money into this set and could purchase a new power supply for about $180. I also have concern about the motherboard as to weather it is HDCP compatable (based on what I've read any tv manufactured after Feb 2004 woulhave the newer motherboard) but at this time I would just like to get it powered up. Do you have a copy of the service manual?

Successful repair to power supply carried out by replacing C50 100uf/25v which was leaky, the original fitted had heat shrink sleeve on it which I guess kept it hot and dried it out. Original symptoms were dead set with very dim standby lamp, now fully working for a very cheap single component, hope this helps revive other sets though I know they are now an old set...though still a good one !!

I'm sorry it's taken so long to get back to you.
Unfortunately I have not been able to obtain a copy of a service manual for the Tv or power supply.
I'm in the process of selling the set; I give up.

Did you ever find the service manual for your RD65. I am also looking for a service manual, Optoma will not provide the manual. This TV is out of production due to all the problems with it, you would think they would help out those of us that had faith in their product and spent our hard earned money. Optoma's Tech support and customer service is terrible. If you have the service manual I would be willing to pay for a copy. Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
