Question about HP Photosmart C7280 Laser Printer

Shutting down is running across my screen

Was copying when I realized I forgot the othe 1/2 sheet to be copied, so I quickly opened the lid and put it. It stopped everything and when I pressed copy & pressed the black button to start, it didn't do anything, pressed cancel nothing. So, I thought I would shut the printer down and would cancel every thing and I could start over. That didn't work, now this has been running across my screen for several days. What do I do to get running again?

It worked, I'm not sure the way it should have, but I'm up and running.

The lights didn't shut off when I pressed the Off button, so I just continuesd with the remaining steps and it worked. After, a screen read that I should not unpug the all-in-One until I shut if off, but it wouldn't shut off.

Also, the power cord I unplugged from the All-in-one was actually the Power Adapter cord, it was one and same cord, should it have been?

    Thanks!

When making copies, only a part of the document prints; the rest is solid black.

Solid black in a copy typically means that the scanner is partially blocked. Open the top, where you'd place a sheet to be copied, and examine the small strip that runs down the side (left, most likely). See if it's clear, or if something is covering part of it.
Most copiers don't use the full size scanning plate for copies, but use a strip that scans the paper as it moves across it. If something blocks part of it, you get the black area.

My AR-163 copier is bringing out half copy, it will copy and leave the down part uncoppied, how do i solve that problem

Half copy is never an issue with the toner. If you leave the lid open and make a skyshot copy what does it look like, is the copy all black with a thin white border around it, and do you see the scanner light comming on all the way across? You will want to make sure that your developer is evenly distributed across the magnetic roller. Also try looking into the score tron and check the drum cleaning blade and drum.

I have a lexmark 2600 all in one machine. How do I scan more than 1 page at a time?

This photocopier can only copy 1 page at a time. This is due to only being able to place one sheet on the viewing surface per scan.

To make a scan follow these instructions:

  1. Open lid and put the document or photo face down
  2. Close the lid to press the document flat and avoid dark edges
  3. Have the printer connected to the computer and both turned on
  4. Press the scan icon on the printer
  5. Follow onscreen instructions
  6. Repeat for each document needing to be scanned

Hi, I have an HP4250, it is printing a faint part down one side of the page. I have changed the toner and fuser and it still does it, can anyone help.

Since you have changed the toner then the most likely cause is dirty laser optics. To properly clean the optics, quite a bit of disassembly is required. You may want to ask a local repair company for an estimate to clean the optics. Should be around $75
Good Luck and Thank You using Fixya.

If it's scan and copy only and not when you send a job from the computer your solution is easy to remedy. Try going into the menu located on the printer to info menu. Scroll down to conguration page and click the check button. When the printer prints, if the line is not on the page you simply have ink or white-out on the scan glass for the ADF (auto doc feeder).

To clean the ADF glass, lift the top lid to expose the glass. There are two peices, 1 large full size and one strip peice. If your getting the line when using the auto feeder (without lifting top) pay close attention to the strip of glass. When a document is auto-fed it moves the original past the strip of glass. A dot (pen mark or white-out) will appear as a line on your final copy.

Clean well with windex or similar glass cleaner. PUT THE CLEANER ON THE RAG THEN THE RAG TO THE GLASS. Don't spray the glass as it's easy to get it into cracks where to don't want it to fall on an electronic part or board below the glass edges. While you at it, clean all the glass.

Test by making a copy of a "BLANK" sheet of paper with one small line to give you postion clues. First by putting it on the glass. Clean everywhere on the large glass that shows a mark on the page (except the one you purposely put there). The mark will help you locate where to clean. (example - 1" below and 2" over from your intentional mark) It also helps you identify top of page from bottom.

Once that is done do the same thing using the original in the ADF. Simply measure in from the edge of the page on the copy and find the corresponding spot on the small strip of glass.

IF YOU SHOULD BE GETTING THE LINE IN ALL FUNCTIONS, PRINT, COPY MANUALLY, AND COPY WITH ADF. Check the toner cartridge, most likely black for damage on the cartidge drum. The cartridge drum can be quickly viewed by flipping the shutter open (the part with the HP logo and part number printed on it). If there is a line, replace the cartridge.

Hope that helps you. If so hit it with a FIXYA!

Thanks,

Dell 1600n Will only print with sheet feeder open

Rollers may be worn out and not properly grabbing paper or a gear may be broken. You should be able to inspect by lifting cover to feeder and watching as paper is pulled through.

Copies print all black

Make 1 copy with the lid open & verify that the scan lamp is lighting & that the scanner moves. A blown lamp is the most common cause for all black copies.
