The same thing happened to my HP a while ago after not using it for about 6 weeks. The printer heads dried up and need to be replaced. I bought a better printer.
your toner is empty refill or replace it. You can continue printing when the toner is empty but the faxes recieved will not be printed till the toner empty light is reset.
I'll repeat the solution for everyone's info: When "Out of Range" error message appears, it means the time and date aren't set correctly! You have to set the correct time and date for the device to function. To do this:
Press Menu until “Machine Setup” appears.
Press the scroll buttons to display “Date & Time”, then press Enter.
Enter the correct date and time using the number keys (date format: month, day and a 4-digits-year).
Select “AM” or “PM” for 12-hour format, using the # or * keys.
Press Enter when done.

I was in the same boat but I found a workaround:
I looked through the pictures of the Samsung printers on their website and found one that looked like the SCX-4216F, which was the SCX-4X21, then I downloaded and chose the driver name "SCX-4X21" when I was installing the printer and booyah, it worked!
