Denon ARV 2105 Power Up Problems

Worked fine last night, powered up this am for a split second and then immediately powered off. I can push the on/off button off and then on to get the red light back around the on/standby button. Then when I push the on/standby button to try to power it on a get a message that says "2 FRONT LARGE". We've unplugged it and re-tried, didn't work. Any thoughts?

we unplugged the front speakers and tried again to power it off. still have the same problem.

it will turn off, when it turns on it goes to the 2 front large message and no, we cannot make any button on the front of the receiver or the remote do anything. if you still think we should unplug all speakers, we will do that tomorrow. when you say unplug, do you mean the wire from the back of the speaker or unplug them from the back of the receiver?

we've finally been able to do what you suggested and we are still having the same problem. still have the same message. system seems to be locked up. no button on the front works except the on/off button does turn it off. remote does not work at all.

Your front two speakers may be drawing too much current, unhook them first and see if it works without them, if it does, then the speakers are the problem,

let me know what you find and we can work from there

can you go into the menu and change settings at all?

from your second comment, it seems that you are now not able to turn it off? or is it just not staying on?

If you disconnect all speakers, will it work, and then test one speaker at a time, what happens?

Try the following and if it doesn't work then your protection circuit might need to be replaced or at least someone will have to diagnose down to the exact problem in your unit which I expect to be a short somewhere but this will need to be physically tracked down by an electronics expert.

    1. Switch off unit and unplug AC cord from outlet.

    2. Press and hold the DIRECT and STEREO buttons, whilst simultaneously plugging in the AC cord.

    3. Check that the display is flashing with an interval of about 1
second, and release your fingers from the two buttons and the microprocessor will be initialized.

Denon AVR 2105 5years old has worked perfectly. Now all of a suddend Zone 2 does not come on. Any ideas why after working perfect for so long?

Bad button on the remote? or
static discharge from being touched can cause all kinds of strange problems.
I would reset the micro processor back to default settings..
AVR-2105 or AVR-885 Front Speaker A and B (2 keys)
Let the front panel blink 3 or 4 times and then release the keys (buttons)
You will have to do your set up again i.e. speaker size, assign inputs, FM presets etc.

The receiver has an internal problem like bad power supply or burnt channel. You need to bring it to a local repair shop or mail it here.

Powers turns on then off

See:, page 72. In my case, the problem was a connector between my receiver and television. I unplugged it from my receiver and it now works.
