I have an F340 HP all-in -one and the work arouind for me is to go into paint program and click "FILE" scroll down to from "SCANNER/CAMERA" and click scanner then save file.Windows Vista does NOT recognise the scan button on the actual printer ..I got this from the HP website cause I had same issue -- perhaps this will work you ..If not try going to their software support...enter your product and see if they have solution available for your printer model if this doesn't work for you....

please reset your printer. turn off your printer, leave it for 30 sec and turn it on again....
If you still have problem try to re install the catridges again, follow below instruction

same thing happened to me: try this fix
1. open HP photosmart essentials
2. go to the 'get images' blue box location on the view tab
3. click 'from scanner'
4. follow the directions
hope this helps - the printer isn't as useless as i first thought.

You need to have the printer in the ready state
Just do onething ....... take out both the cart and then insert just one cart and try ... check with only color or back one in the pinter

u can try scanning from Ms paint .. on the file click on scanner and cameras
if that also does not work you will need to reinstall the all in one

I have this exact same issue. I'm attempting to talk to someone from HP on their online chat support, but it's said "An agent will be with you shortly" for quite a while now.
every time I get the scanning to work they send a new update that screws it all up again, NEVER BUY AN HP PRODUCT
flashy light, no electronic noise, steam coming from my ears wtf!
