My monitor is is working fine, but i am wondering about connectiong it to the video output of a vcr. if possible, if i could determine which wires from the monitor pin connector cable would i use to connect to the rca connector cable coming from the vcr. thanks for your help

This could be as simple as the video cable isn't connecting securely. You could try replacing the cable or screwing it tighter. We recently had a red tint on an external monitor for a laptop because the cable was loose; since the laptop moved regularly, screwing the connector to the port on the machine wasn't a convenient solution. The other reasons for an odd tint like that is the video card or the monitor starting to fail. Attaching the monitor to a different computer and seeing if the problem repeats will check if it is the monitor and not the video of the computer.
I would suspect the capacitors on the power supply board. Other sites show that power up problems are due to the aluminum electrolytic capacitors on the power supply board being defective. Replacing the four 470uf 25v capacitors (470 micro farad, 25 volt) on the board usually fixes the problem. Sometimes also the two 1200uf 25v capacitors could be the culprit. I suggest changing them all. The price is about $7 for the parts online at Mouser electronics plus $7 shipping. I just fixed mine. I bought two 1200uf 35v capacitors, Mouser part number: 647-UPJ1V122MHD6 and four 470uf 25v capacitors Mouser part number: 661-EKY250ELL471MH2 These are slightly larger than the originals but still fit and they were in stock. You will then have to open the unit (relatively easy) remove the power supply board by removing four screws and disconnecting the connectors (Make a note of wire colors and where the connectors came from before removing). Then you will need to remove the old parts by desoldering them and then solder in the new parts (somewhat easy if you have soldered before)
you use a graphics card as your main output? and you have onboard graphics output too that you dont use? if so then you will have to plug your monitor lead into the onboard output socket to see bios. i think you need to go into bios and change which device starts from boot. it sounds like you have the onboard graphics as your boot device and windows using the graphics card.
I would suggest looking at the capacitors on the power supply board. I just got one today with 3 blown caps (the tops are swollen) and a couple missing components. The ones blown on mine are the 220uF @ 25V and 1000uF @ 16V.
the VGA cable for a CRT monitor is the same as the VGA cable for an flatscreen monitor. The VGA protocol hasn't changed between the two technologies, so if you tried it with a different known working cable and it still didn't work, then it is the monitor, and not the cable.
Does the monitor's power led turn on? If not, it could be a power supply issue. Unfortunately lcd monitors are not very user-servicable. There isn't much in there that you can touch if you crack it open.
Not sure If I am understanding this correctly, you are trying to connect a monitor to a monitor? I have never heard of that before. As far as I know you need a video card that has dual output to use dual monitors. I am not saying you can't do what I think you are saying but I never heard of that before. Also on a side note depending on the resolution and amount of colors your operating system is set on, you need a video card strong enough to drive both monitors.
I recently came accross one of these monitors (Planar PE191M) with the identical issue. The resolution was to replace the two 470ufd 25V capacitors that are located on the main power board. The main power board also contains the audio circuit and more importantly the inverter circuit that drives the CCFL backlighting. The suspect caps were identified using an ESR meter; if you happen to have one of these meters you can confirm this is the issue with your unit(s), alternatively you can just replace the two capacitors and see if it resolves your issue. Hope this info helps someone out there.
try the capasitos in the in line of the circuit they have to be electrolitic condencer some times with the time they open and made the monitor not work try it wiht analog multimeter is more easer know if the condencer are bad
