Hello my friend you should have the input signal set to 500 miliamps do not go over, another thing is that if you have good ground and the battery is good and it has the sufficient amps to push it.also the ohms of your spkrs are not too low,you need to check all that.

good luck

Why does my amp turn off when i hook up my 12 inch kicker

Possibly due to a poor battery, you could try installing a power cap to prevent the amp shutting down/protect due to low voltage when the starter kicks in.

I need to know what to put the frequency at for my subs... they are 2 12" kicker comp's

40 - 45 Htz is the usuall. It really depends on the music you listen to. They are built to handle a little more mid bass. Where they are located, power supplied, direction the subwoofer is facing will all have an effect on what you need to set it at. My suggestion is follow the basic steps in setting up your amp. 1. turn your amp gain all the way down. 2. turn your radio volume to 75% of max. 3. start turning up the gain until you obtain the sound you want. You want to do this so your don't "clip" the sub. Kicker is good, but the comps can only handle so much before they start popping. This will heat up the voice coils quickly and cause them to fail prematurely. Hope this helps.

Cut out

rewire the subs-each sub you want in series=8 ohms per sub-then at the amp wire the two 8 ohm subs in parallel which brings the ohms back down to 4 ohms which is optimal for the amp and it shouldnt shut down on you any more-try that-good luck

Do you have ONE pair of 12's? Are they single voice coils? Dual? Bottom line, you are either over driving the amp (bass controll up high on the head unit (stereo), or the "load" on the amo is too low, meaning 2-12'" dual voice coils parreleled would give you a 1ohm load. Need more info, need to know what the bass is set on on your stereo, what size power wire to the amp, and I can wrap up the solution. ok?

Take care,

Power from the kenwood 9103D to the Kicker comp 15's is on n off

Most times I hear of people turning up the volume on a head unit and cutting off on the amp it tends to be wired to a speaker with the wrong impedance. I googled kicker comp and got tons of different models, not to mention almost all of them were 250 watt rms. That amp is 900 watt RMS at 2 ohms. If you only have 1 woofer, you can't possibly wire it wrong being all the subs I've seen in the results were 4 ohm. If you are using just one though, you should get a larger speaker, both 2 ohms and 1000 watt rms to prevent distortion. I'm afraid I can't answer your post without further information on the sub you are using.

Ive got no power to the amp trough the rem wire unless i connect.

You need a bigger amp and make sure its a two channel. Four and five channel amps are for mids and highs. If you want real bass get a two channel. If you dont want to buy a bigger amp, Go get a capacitor. It acts like a battery charge storage for when your sub needs to hit those real low notes. It takes a lot of power. Also if you get a capacitor your altinater that charges your battery will not have to work so hard keeping your battery charged, Thus not wearing out your altinater and not having to replace it so soon because it will happen.

Another quick fix is turning your gain down. I turn my gain up half way, maybe a little past half way. You might not get the bass hitting as hard but at least it wont shut off on you.

not getting enough air to cool off amp, if amp is in an inclosed area with restricted air flow, amp will over heat and shut down, once the amp has cooled off, it will reset.
