Question about Whirlpool GR399LXHS Electric Kitchen Range

Whirlpool range taking AUTO clean literally...

I'm not sure where exactly to post this because I'm not certain what model numbers I'm actually dealing with (not able to check them now, unfortunately). SO, I'll post here. I have a Whirlpool built-in oven that occasionally decides to auto-clean itself. I'll walk by and the display will show an amout of time left for the clean cycle. I can reset it back to the clock, but it inevitably will crank up again at some point. It could be minutes, hours, or days. This is not an issue I am particularly concerned about because the burner does not come on nor is my ability to use the oven hindered by it. A friend has a Whirlpool electric range with digital oven controls. His exhibits the same issue as mine, only his IS problematic because the computer not only engages the clean cycle timer, but also locks the oven door and cranks up the burners (wasting electricity, adding wear/tear on the oven, and posing a substantial fire hazard). I've pulled the circuit board from the unit and there is no visible damage to it. I've contacted a local appliance dealer for a replacement and the part is over $200. I hesitate to advise my friend to spend that kind of money because I'm convinced this is a pervasive problem for Whirlpool. Who's to say the replacement part won't crap out in short order? I would be just as happy if I could completely disable the auto clean cycle by cutting out a resistor or something, but I have no idea where to start. Can anybody out there throw me a bone? I'll be more than happy to get model numbers for both units if it is going to make a difference, but as these two models are very different and exhibiting the same symptoms, I'm thinking it's a problem across the board. Thanks!

Thanks for taking a look at my problem. Sorry for the delay, but I've not been able to get the model number for the range until now. The range number is RF385PEXN 0. Hopefully this will help, as I'm at a loss.

    Thanks!

    Geoff

Geoffrey, the correct model numbers would help a great deal. It almost sounds like a keypad issue, stuck or shorted. The main board has to have the input. I would be better able to help with exact model numbers...Catriver...post back

I have an kenmore glass top self cleaning oven , the code is F1,what does it mean, and how to get rid of it.

It would help us better if you also gave us the model number of your machine because that way we can know who actually made the unit. But, if it was made by Whirlpool, the F1 code means that you will need to replace the control board. It is also called the ERC or the clock board. Re-post with the model number and we can narrow down the possibilities for you.

I would like to obtain an operators manual for a whirlpool electric range.

Whirlpool has the manuals for many of their appliances on their web site: https://www.whirlpool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/OCManualsLiteratureSearchView?catalogId=10561&langId=-1&storeId=10211&krypto=5QgxQhneFliXuEuX564wSQ%3D%3D&ddkey=http:OCManualsLiteratureSearchView . You need to provide the model number of the range to get the correct manual. From the Whirlpool site, click Search after entering the model number. For most ranges, the model number will be on a plaque behind the storage drawer on the rim of the unit.

If you add a comment with the model number, I will be glad to see if the manual is available.

I hope this helps.

DOES MY WHIRLPOOL DRYER-MODEL NUMBER LX7400W0 HAVE A FUSE? IT TUMBLES BUT IS NOT HEATING.

The model number posted doesn't to exist but one for sure is that all Whirlpool Electric Dryers do have a thermal cut-out (off) which is actually a non-resettable fuse located on the heater housing. Click on the link below then enter the exact model of your dryer then select and click bulkhead and locate the part named thermal cut-out/off, a non-resettable fuse.

Range got switched to "Celsius", how can we get it back to "Farenhight"

If the model number is correct, to change from Celsius to Fahrenheit (and vice-versa) follow these steps:

1. Press and hold the AUTO/CLEAN button for 5 seconds and TEMPERATURE UNIT FAHRENHEIT should appear.

2. Press OFF/CANCEL to exit mode.

Repeat the same steps if you ever wish to change back to Celsius.

These instructions are printed on page 11 of your owner's manual. If you cannot find your copy, go to managemylife.com and type in your model number under the "Manuals" link. Your installation and owner's manuals are available in .pdf (Adobe) format that you can download or print for FREE.

If this is not your model number, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

We tried to change the time on the clock of our range. However a time isn't showing but the letters and numbers 5A6. How can we correct this? Thank you

You have inadvertently set your range to "Sabbath Mode". The display actually reads "SAB". This is a feature that allows the consumer to disable certain features of the range in order to honor the sabbath. You cannot defeat it by unplugging the range or turning off the breaker either. You will either have to wait 72 hours for the mode to clear, or figure out how to turn it off.

To turn the Sabbath Mode on/off on most Maytag models you simply press and hold the "Clock" button for 5 seconds. These instructions should be in your owner's manual.

If this does not correct the problem for you, please post back with your model number (located on the back of the range or around the oven door opening) so that I may be able to assist you better. I hope this helps you.

Accubake electric smooth top range

You more than likely have an issue with the door lock assembly or the temp sensor probe. Not sure off the top of my head the the exact codes are. A model number to the appliance can help us get that. Machine is worth repairing just hang in there!!
