Question about Garden

Poulan chain saw 295 pro.

The chain saw is a runaway. Hit the kill switch and nothing happens untill I hit the throtle, then it shutsdown. The saw runs at max rpm without holding the throtle. Please help.

Hi pietras 1,
My name is Dennis and I would like to help but what I think may be a problem, has to be confirmed visually, so I can only give you a guess where I'm going with this. The kill switch is a ground wire for the ignition so the magneto current will not jump the gap at the plug. If the ground wire is disconnected from the kill switch the ignition will not be grounded out then you request it to be grounded. Now if this wire that is disconnected is entangled with the rod that connects the throttle to the carburetor that could be the reasonthe machine is a run-away. Look at the linkages in the area ofthe kill switch and see if this makes sense.
Please rate the solution because I depend on you for your rating to help me learn toassist correctly.

What is the file size (to sharpen chain) for a Poulan Pro 295 46cc?

I am pretty sure this machine ran a .325 pitch chain, so the file size is 3/16, if it is running 3/8 low profile chain ( 91 ) it will be a 5/32 file, the pitch should be marked on the bar .

My Poulan Pro 295 chain saw starts fine, runs for a few minutes, then stops and will not start until completely cool. What could be my problem?

It sounds very much loke the ignition is playing up when hot, just as a little test when it starts to die slacken off the fuel filler cap does it pick up/re start? if yes it is a fuel tank breather issue, replace the breather.

I have a Poulan Pro 295 20 " chain saw that wont start. No spark from plug.Think the magneto is bad. Model no.952-051310 . Need opinion and part no. Thanks.

Do a basic test first, remove the top cover, pull the earth cut out wire from the terminal on the ignition unit ( this will iliminate any problems with the switch, or wires ) now try for a spark, remember that they work off speed of rotation so give it a good pull, make sure you use a good clean plug, well earthed against the cylinder. If there is still no spark, you will need to replace the unit, part no. 530039143

Need bar and chain for 20" poulan pro 295

Find what you need here:
Oregon Bar & Chain Selector
http://www.oregonchain.com/commonpgm/Selguide_Selctmfg.asp?BusId=OCS&SellReg=USA&LangId=ENG&ShowRem=Y&ShowAnsi=Y&ShowQuality=Y&ShowCombo=Y&usertype=OCC
Oregon numbers can easily be located with a Internet search and convert easily to other manufacturers numbers.
Chains can be fabricated locally in a few minutes (take existing chain for use as a pattern).

POULAN PRO 295: RUNNING VERY STRONG, FOR OVER AN

Remove the air filter, squirt a little fuel into the carb. Start and let run if it will for a few minutes. Could be you had some water in old fuel. and it is still in the intake of saw. If it still will not run after squirting some fuel into carb. You have a firing problem.

Gots spark but won't start

If the engine is getting spark and you have tried starting fluid sprayed into carburator then it is not the switch as all the switch does is ground out the primary to kill the spark. It is now either the compression(lack their of) or the timing (Sheared flywheel key, for example)
