Huh? Open "My Computer". Is there an icon for the CD-ROM?
If you double-click that icon, does it "open" the files on the CD?

From a computer WITH Internet access, access the web-site for the manufacturer of the motherboard, and download the network device-drivers to a USB memory-stick. Move the memory-stick to your computer, and install the device-driver.

Try to install the usb driver compatible with your windows 7..

If your external drive also come with its cd installer, try installing the driver for this hardware compatible for windows7.

Try the external hard-drive in another computer.
If that computer also refuses to recognize it, then there is something wrong with the external hard-drive.

The driver is a set of "directions" which gives the hardware (in this case your printer) directions on what to do and when.
You can do it one of three ways.

1. Plug the printer into your computer and when new hardware is recognized by your computer, depending on the operating system, it will install the drivers stored in a Windows folder currently on your computer.
2. Plug the printer into your computer and when new hardware is recognized by your computer it will prompt you with a new window to install the drivers and then either direct the computer to find the drivers on your computer (if you have them in a file from a download) or on the Install CD and proceed to install them.
3. Insert install CD in the CD/DVD ROM and if it doesn't open on its own, click on MY COMPUTER then CD/DVD Drive (probably D or E drive) and click on install.
4. Reboot computer and all should be fine

well it's possible that your cd-rom actually is just permanently malfunctioning, i've seen it numerous times (i repair pc's and laptops for a living) the driver should automatically load using windows. the only driver i can find for the optical drive is for dos and people using win 3.1

Its probably a bluetooth device as it says. So install its drivers if not recognized automaticaly
1. If it is an external dongle try to install the drivers from a CD that came with it.
2. If not (an internal device usually on laptops) drivers for it are on the motherboard CD, so browse the CD looking for a folder named Bluetooth, or something associated and install them.
After installing will be asked to reset your computer so do it as asked. After that the installed device will copy and execute some files and will start working

you could try removing the drivers from your device manager by going through contol panel or by right-clicking on My Computer and then on the hardware tab. you would find it under cd/dvd rom drives.Just right click and click on uninstall. Then if you dont have your driver disk you might be able to download it from softpedia.com. If you have installed drivers more than once you might be able to roll-back drivers but the best bet would be to just uninstall and re-install the drivers.

remove all software from computer for printer

go to www.canon.com and get new drivers by model and operating system

re install

try it again.
