When Norton is active it scans the computer for viruses and this will slow the computer down until it finishes.
You computer will improve with more RAM especially if has 512Mb of RAM.

Which operating system ?
Laptop computers can be wonderful devices, except when the need to troubleshoot arises. Acer laptops are no different. A quick way to fix many problems with an Acer laptop running Windows is to reset it to factory settings. Resetting your Acer laptop to factory settings can eliminate slow operation, registry problems, virus problems and spyware issues. What's more, a factory reset of your laptop may reduce the need for a full reinstallation of Windows.

Back up all necessary data to an external device such as a disk, flash drive or hard drive Make sure all programs are closed and shut down your Acer laptop. Detach any external hardware such as an external hard drive or printer. Press the Power button to boot your Acer laptop. Press "Alt-F10" on your keyboard when the Acer screen appears at the start of the boot-up process. Wait a moment while Windows loads the reset files. Select "Restore System from factory default" in the Acer eRecovery Management window. Click "Next" on the next screen to continue. Click "Next" on the following destination information window. This will pop up a notice telling you that resetting your Acer laptop will erase all data and restore the laptop to its original settings and configuration. Was in the middle of restoring the computer to factory settings, it was at 98% and it died now it says the windows failed to start

Hi there!
If the restoration to the factory settings did not finish then Windows was not reinstalled properly in your computer. I suggest that you reset again the computer to factory settings. If the restoration died again at any point before completion, I suggest to do a manual re-installation of Windows.
Hope this helps.

How can i make factory setting for Aspire 5610 without recovery disc and/or with recovery disc

Hi,

You do not have to make factory setting, infact you can restore the computer back to factory default,to do so, follow the below steps: Turn OFF the computer, now as soon as you hit the power button, keep on holding "Alt" key & keep on tapping "F10" key, i.e Alt+F10 (try both), it will open the recovery console, select full factory restore and follow onscreen instruction. NOTE: This will erase all the datas on the computer.

Thanks and regards,

Full system scan not getting completed

Open NIS and run LiveUpdate. Keep re-running LiveUpdate until it says that there are no more updates. Reboot the system if prompted to do so (you may want to reboot even if it doesn't say it is required, just to be sure everything got replaced properly). Open NIS again, select Tasks and run a Full System Scan. The error message should not appear again.

Dear Sir,

Generally, if Norton is installed once & uninstalled. It won't allow you to install again. Simple solution is to get the Norton Complete Remover from Norton website available as a free program to tackle these type of situation.

After you run the complete uninstaller, you can once again install norton your system.

Check on Norton website or else write to me, I will give you the link to download from..
