Hi, I have the same Problem with my HC3. This July the screen started to go funny and then now only works once its fully opend and flipped against the body. the touch screen did not work, As I had tapes to be transfered I needed to get the camera in to play mode and access the menu. I had no choice but to gentnly removed the LCD cover and tightend the connections and the touch screen now started to work. As I move the creen forward the image goes off and once? Looks like its a common problem as I see many having thesame issue. I feel it could be a loose connection inside but cant open and loose whats left working as it is still usable without the screen.
Your GL2 has a case of clogged heads. If the clogging is minor, you can clean by using head cleaning tape. 1.Open the tape door and blow out any dusts present. 2. run tape cleaner for about 10 seconds but NO MORE. Hope it works. -James. I have the same problem of picture distortion when recording on my PV-GS200 camcorder. It's due to a faulty CCD block, which you can read about on various websites. I can play back pre-CCD failure tapes without a problem. Panasonic recalled quite a few GS200 camcorders with specific serial numbers in the US and Canada, and replaced the faulty 3-CCD chip free of charge. I just discovered this tonight and intend to ring Panasonic tomorrow, as the camcorder - bought new - lasted only two years before the CCD fault became apparent. Obviously, the camcorder was not of merchantable quality.
Sometimes that happens to me too. What I do is just push play, then fast forward, and normally if you watch it, the picture starts to come back. Just keep fast forwarding until you can see all of the picture, and you should be fine.
The only thing I can find on this (and its silly sounding I know) is the following:
1) Moisture condesnation build up, leave the door open for 1 hour or more
2) The tapes you are using have write protection enabled
