I am having problem when capturing video from composite input. the video start loosing quality and comes invisible with horizontal lines on it. I have the DV500 connected with the Breakout Box. If I use the s-video cable works fine. no video loose, no horizontal lines. I don't know if the problem could be the Breakout Box or the PCI card.

Re: capture video from composite input
You should make sure everything that may cause interference is away from any of those cables, such as cable/dsl modem, wifi router..etc because they cause a large amount of electromagnetic interference
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Search Google and found this: The Sony CCD-TRV49 camcorder doesn't have a digital output, so you have to capture and convert the analog composite video signal and audio signals. On the PC side you need an analog video capture board, a sound card to capture the audio and a video capture/editing software. You can also find on the market external USB devices that contains all these things.
The composite video is the yellow RCA connector that goes straight to your capture board. The left audio is the white RCA connector and the right audio is the red RCA connector. These are mixed on a stereo jack plug that enters into soundcard input socket.

Does your computer already have a capture card input function and video record software? IF not, then you'll need to purchase one. When you purchase one be-sure it has s-video input. Many have an adapter that will convert the s-video to composite video (RCA Jack type) if it doesn't have s-video to begin with. If your computer has the capture capability but not a s-video input then you'll need someway to convert the signal. Its possible to kind of cheat and use something else like a old vcr. Do you by chance have an old vcr that had s-video in. If yes try connecting the camera s-video to the input of the vcr, select the correct line in and then connect the RCA composite line out that would go to your tv to the input of your computer capture card. You could also checkout your local radio shack, best buy, etc and find an adapter/converter. If you don't already have a computer setup I suggest going to your Favorite electronic store and looking around the software section. There's lots of box sets that come with hardware and software. Some require card installs and some use external usb connect devices.

You don't need ATI capture anything. Pinnacle Studio does that. Make sure your composite input is not disabled on your PC. Make sure Pinnacle is setup to capture from that card/device. Make sure your video device is outputting to the composite.
Use ACER Arcade application. From User manual: "Acer Arcade allows you to capture and record video clips from other external devices, such as a DVD player or camcorder. Click Capture Device on the video page and then select the source you are using for your video input. There is a choice between "S-video" and "Composite." To capture a video clip, you then need to click the red record button in the onscreen controls. The destination folder can be set from the "Settings" menu. Clicking on Advanced and selecting Settings allows you to set the quality of the video captured. You can choose from "Good," "Better" or "Best." Selecting a higher quality results in a larger file when capturing video clips. Snapshot Snapshot mode is available in Cinema, Video and TV modes. This function can be used to capture the onscreen image at any time."

I have heard this works, going to try one today, I have tried EVERYTHING else, downloading drivers, diffferent programs, firewire cords, so I think this will work, when I googled our specific camcorder, this matches, also, some people are selling the exact sony camcorder on ebay with this included, stating they have used it to connect to their pc. Hope this helps.
