How do I get the flash to come on?

I have lost my manual and whenever we take pictures the flash doesn't work. Is there a seperate battery that we are supposed to change, and if so, where?

- on the LCD screen on the left right had coner there is the flash symbol but has a red line going a croos i asume it mean no flash but i have lost the manuel and dont know how to turn it on- xxxlucyxxxBest Solution
