Kennedy, Do hard reset by hold down the track edit and up arrow keys simultaneously while powering up. It will re-initialize the disk and ask you if you're sure you want to. Ans. yes using the (yes/enter) key, and the unit will re-boot itself and return to the welcome screen as loaded from the factory.

My tascam dr 100 gives a 'writing failed' file error' message and stops recording

Try using a smaller memory card. This only happens to me when using a 4- or 8-gig card. 2-gig and below, No error.

Bought a new sd card and the tascam dr-1 reads it as protected

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

2gb Sansa Fuze won't recognize 2gb Micro SD

place the blank card into the SanDisk player
go to SETTINGS press "enter"
go to SYSTEM SETTINGS press "enter
go to FORMAT press "enter"
it will ask "are you sure you want to format this device"?
select YES

dowload songs to REMOVABLE DISK drive F, at least that is what my PC assigned it to. You will overload your MP3 PLAYER if you continue to download to the Sanza Drive.

Hope this helps.

Pocketstudio 5

A CF card is a compact flash memory card. It's rectangular and has two rows of holes along one side which fit over the connector pins when you slide the card into its socket. Compact flash cards can be bought from electronics or photographic shops, and some department stores. They are not expensive but these days they are usually 1Gb and up. The TASCAM Pocketstudio 5 can only format up to 128Mb so most of a modern card is not used but the card will still work.

Hello tasbones and razzledog !I expect the following will help you solving the problems with the pattern file of pocketstudio5 (TASCAM):You need the original CD-ROM which includes the pattern file with many different drums and sound stuff. You have to put these data on a formatted cf-card (everytime again if you will use a new card) !This info comes from a german musician who had the same problem 5 years ago.Try the following Link of TASCAM where you can download the manual, an update and the PATTERN FILE !   --> "Support" --> "download" --> "nicht mehr hergestellte Produkte" --> "pocketstudio5"If this will not work, give me a sign - I will try to send the data to you via mail.freewood/Berlin, Germany
