I have a 2002 Impala. I can run the car all day if I get jumped in the morning. However lately as it sits over night I end up with a dead battery. I noticed a constant clicking noise I always thought that it was the car trying to unlock with the key fob. I located the noise and it is coming from the back up lp relay on the passengers side fuse box. I tried replacing the battery and it does the same thing. I'm very confused on what to do.
Hello! The Automatic Trans-axle Internal mode switch (the switch that changes states when you shift to reverse) is more than likely the culprit...The relay that is clicking is receiving a ground as if you are backing up...That ground could also be in the wiring itself but the switch is the most probable cause...The wire colors in the connector plug to the switch are...Dark Green/White...Red/Black and Black/White...With the car in Park there is probably a ground on the Dark Green/White wire...I would suggest changing the switch...Guru...saailer

I have it in the shop right now they are taking a look at it so far they haven't been able to figure it out. I'll definitely check that out thanks.
Hello! Tell the mechanic to look at the PCM Connector C1...Pin #68 (Yellow Wire) for a resistive ground...If it is there the Automatic Mode Switch is defective...The switch that closes when you shift into reverse...If it is NOT there (ground)...Go to the BCM...Connector C1...Pin B6 (Dark Blue Wire) and look for a resistive ground...A resistive ground is pulling the back-up lamp relay via one of these two places...Saailer
I took it into the shop they tested it and had it for almost a week. They claimed they found no abnormal draws coming from anywhere. They put a new battery in and they said that they cleaned the terminals. It has been starting very solid since I got it back. Maybe the terminals were really dirty or something because I bought a new battery and installed it and it died just like before. So I returned it and put the old one back in. The only thing that they could come up with was a dead battery. It's working so far fingers crossed. Although I paid 240 to have them tell me it was a dead battery.

There are two settings for the fob to unlock doors. One is both doors unlock, and the other is the drivers door on the first click, and then after waiting about two sec. pushing again unlocks the passenger door. The dealer has to set this function. I find that if I don't wait long enough, the passenger door does not unlock.

If you need to replace the entire mirror - it's a little involved. First you need to take the upper extension panel off from behind the mirror (black triangle) - just pull it of starting at the top. It will snap back on later. Next - remove the different screws holding the door panel in place (not the ones behind the mirror yet!) One is under the handle (pull it out and pull out the filler panel - small plastic thing that has a hole to pry it out). Then take off the rear red light - also pops off - and remove that screw. Finally - pick up the rubber filler where your fingers pull the door shut and remove these torx bolts.
Now is the tricky part. Snapp off the entire interior panel. It will pop off - but very difficult. It will sound like it is breaking! Start at the outer bottom corner - and use a door panel remover tool - check Amazon or E-bay - to keep from breaking things. Pull it out from all around the bottom and sides and then lift it up over the door lock. It good to have a friend help here. The panel will still be held on by a cable - that is your door release - leave it alone and let the panel hang by it (or better, put a box under it to rest on).
Now...remove the three bolts holding the mirror on - have a friend help hold the mirror while you do this or it will scratch your new car! Since the inner panel is off - you can also disonnect the mirror plus and remove it. It sounds silly - but the only reason to remove the door panel is to unplug it!
Get you new mirror and reverse the steps.
If you are just replacing the glass (non-heated) - get a replacement from the dealer. Adjust the mirror all the way to the inside and reach behind and pop it off. CAREFUL - put tape over the entire glass as it will likely break even more! Remove your connectors if heated - and replace (and reconnect) with your new glass. It just pops back on!
Replacing glass is easy - just be careful of cheap imitations on e-abay). And never use cheap flat glass on the passenger side! The DOT has special requirements for mirror glass - buy it from gmpartsdirect.com or your local dealer.

SOURCE: Chevy Impala Door lock issue
Which is it, 98 Eclipse, or 06 Impala? Either way, your door lock actuator is stuck in the locked position either electrically or mechaically. The way to check this is to remove the door panel and unplug the actuator. If door lock can now be moved then you have an electrical problem (faulty door lock switch or faulty door lock module). If you still cannot unlock door then actuator is mechanically bad and must be replace (usually the case)

The sensor is located in the padding of the seat, you have two wires for seat belt and two wires to the sensor jumping the sensor to bypass the switch is dangrous so will give you a site that can fix it even if dealers can't. Go here and give em a call. http://www.airbagsolutions.com/contact.aspx they are the ones that build all the air bag systems and rebuild the units.

On the inside trim, you can remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. Then you'll need to manipulate the panel and disconnect the door handle linkage from the door handle and disconnect the wiring for your controls. Then you can access the bolts that secure the mirror onto the door

It clicks without the key in it and it also clicks with both doors closed.
