I have a Onyx combined TV/DVD and i cannot get it to switch to AV mode. I have the remote control, but the only thing it keeps telling me is 'no dvd'. I'm trying to set up a playstation2 on it for my 5year old and i don't know what else to do?

Re: av button not working
You could try connecting the ps2 and see if it will swith to av automatically.usally these telly/dvd units toggle between tv,av,and dvd.if this fails, grab a rf converter unit from a ps1,connect this to the aerial socket and tune it in to a spare channel.guaranteed to work!!!.hope this helps, regards, steve.

Hi there. Connect the player by means of a SCART cable.
When you activate the DVD, the TV recognises this and goes automatically into AV mode. About the scart cable: take a fully wired type. Then pin 8 is at least connected. This status pin makes the TV switch to AV mode. (toggles between 0 and 12V)
In some cases, it's only possible to connect the signals by means of RCA connectors. (red, black, yellow). Then it's more complicated.
You have to use the local "channel" buttons on your TV. Press the (-) button a number of times until you reach channels below 1. That's were AV inputs are active. Good luck.
Your Emerson Sponge Bob's model will be SB350. It is a TV/DVD combo, with two AV inputs too. You ahve to see only DVD player with it as you says. You can change its mode to eiter TV/AV or DVD/TV by its remote control buttons. Press the DVD/TV mode button on the remote control to chage the modes to TV or DVD. On DVD mode, you can play DVDs with it. I thinks that you have its user manual with you now. Go to its pate where there is illustrations for which button on the remote control handset should be pressed to select this. If you haven't its user manual with you, send your email address to me by FixYa comment box. I'll send a copy you the user manual to you by return mail. OK.
If the AV button is not in your remote, then perhaps it is part of the Ch up/down buttons - meaning right after your last programmed Channel would be AV before the first program Channel.
Although I have yet to come across such a case, I have worked on units/remotes that have this feature of the AV included in the channel memory.
Good luck and kind regards.
