Question about Washing Machines
Had to replace the plastic tub on this washer due to a large crack near the top of the tub. Inside this tub the metal basket sits.
After replacing the plactic tub, put the machine back together.
The machine makes now makes a loud knock during the spin cycle.
Am told it is making this knock due to the tub not being balanced.
So I took the machine apart again.
I have noticed that the tub does sit/lean forward a bit. It looks like it should naturally sit forward because the motor and pump and not centered and sit more towards the front side.
There are four springs underneath that appear to help balance the tub too.
Is there something I can do to balance the tub? Will purchasing new springs take care the problem?
Is there another adjustment I am missing?
Could it be an additional problem?
Thanks in advance

Sounds like your front to back spring is pulling to tight, sometimes you need to replace it and sometimes you can take it off and stretch it. hope this helps

SOURCE: maytag washer goes off balance
Several shock absorbers are used to internally balance the basket. Most likely they need to be replaced. It is a typical malfunction. Not expensive and can be done quickly by experienced DIY guy.

I have the same kenmore and have experience this before. It is unbalanced. Get a spirit level to check for balance. To rebalance, empty the washer (so it's not heavy), lean over the washer and grab the back, tilt it forward and the auto balancing legs should reposition themselves. Re-check for balance using the spirit level. If still out, adjust the front feet of the washer by screwing the legs up or down (using a wrench). This will cure the problem (unless you have a very unbalanced load of towels for instance). Good luck

SOURCE: Loud noise during spin cycle
is it more like a roar or a train going by? if so your rear tub bearing is going out. very expensive have to replace the tub, basket, spinner ring and shaft and seals about 4 hrs for an exprienced tech to do took me 7 hrs to do for the first time. but it will be very close to $1000 to have done not much less to do it yourself.
