Question about Fuji FinePix E510 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Maintaining Date/Time I've recently inherited a Fuji E510 camera. Works well enough except that it loses its date/time settings if I take the batteries out for even the shortest period of time (for example, when changing low batteries). I see no reference in the manual for the location of the "keepalive" battery cell nor can I find anyplace on the camera housing that indicates where a keepalive cell would be inserted. This leads me to believe that this camera model either has an incredibly stealth keepalive battery compartment, a defective keepalive capacitor, or has no keepalive circuit at all. Since there is absolutely no reference to this topic in the owners manual, could someone out there advise as to whether I do indeed have a camera in need of repair or just an instance of incredibly shortsighted engineering design? Thanks!

Hi. I'm having the exact same problem, and wondering if this internal battery can be changed without soldering? Any other helpful info on locating it (schematics, photos, etc.)? And is it a type of watch battery that I can buy locally, or a special order item?

    Thanks,

    Paul

This is case of a 'keep-alive' battery going flat and unfortunately is on the main p.c board and you will have to dismantle the camera starting from the rear to get to it. Located next to the flash main capacitor on the main board.

Why do I lose date/time on Fuji FinePix S6500 digital camera when I change batteries

You lose the date/time because the camera has no power to it to keep the settings. Basically don't leave the batteries out if you want it to keep the date/time. On the other hand it will just sit and run the batteries down just sitting there off. It is a bit annoying but that's why. Most cameras store an internal charge so they can keep the date/time but it is not supposed to last very long, it was designed so you could swap out dead batteries without having to reset the time/date every time. If it is happening on simple battery changes it means something may be wrong with the camera.

Theres a small back-up battery located on the main
power board. It's not a DIY project to replace this battery.

Loss of date and time on battery change

This is not a solution, however I have the very same problem, and as previously described, the problem have started recently after about two years. What make me think that there is an additional internal battery which died, similar to a PC battery that keeps the date and some other stuff

Hi, Every time I change the batteries now, I lose my time, date etc settings.

I don't have any experience with a fuji but I do believe it has a small internal battery that keeps just enough juice to operate things like date and time. I would take it to your local camera shop they will stear you in the right direction if not make the repair for you.

Flash setting doesn't work

Does your camera gave a small battery in place somewhere that is used to maintain the date and time settings? (it is generally a watch battery type small flat silver disk.) You should not have to reset time and date after each battery change.

Many digital cameras eat up batteries quickly, especially when using the flash alot., that is why it is important to use good quality rechargeables whenever possible.

Printing date on photos

The date and time (and a lot more) are stored with every picture in its EXIF metadata. Any photo viewing/editing program should be able to display this data. To print this data, please consult the documentation for whatever program you're using to print your pictures. Depending on the program and printer you may print the date on the image, in the margins, or on the back.

The date time problem ist he internal battery[ A watch type button inside the camera body]
has worn out- replacing it will be a workshop job.
The other problem seems like wear and tear on the switch any repair will be costly.
Just live with[out]it- or buy a new camera
