Hi there,

Well it's just because of lens errors, they are very common in these digital cameras. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Follow the below steps to do a try to correct it -
1. Remove the batteries from the camera, wait a few minutes. Put a fresh (or new) set of batteries back in and turn the camera on. If that didn't work, try pressing and holding the Function or OK button while turning the camera on. (We know that you camera battery's are in good condition but the newest battery help better).
2. Blow compressed air in the gaps around the lens barrels with the idea of blowing out any sand or grit that may be in there jamming the lens. Other variations include blowing with a hair dryer in “no heat” setting, or sucking the gaps with a vacuum (careful with this one).
3. Place the camera flat on its back on a table, pointed at the ceiling. Press and hold the shutter button down, and at the same time press the power-on button. The idea is that the camera will try to autofocus while the lens is extending, hopefully seating the lens barrel guide pins back into their slots. If further you have the same problem it means there is a gear-motor alignment of the lens which moves in and out with the help of motor. This part is replaceable at an authorized Samsung Service Center. You can follow the below link for tech support -  http://www.samsung.com/uk/info/contactus.html

I tried the above and it still wouldn't work. I also tried popping the battery out once the lens was extended so I could try and clean the barrels. I finally just kee\pt hitting the on button repeatedly while the lens was facing down thinking the dirt might fall out and it finally did start working again. Whether any dirt actually came out of not I don't know. But it worked.

Three beeps when i try to turn it on

i had the same problem a while back. I fooled around with my camera lens a bit and it turned out that one side of the lens was sticking out a bit. I pressed down on this and pushed the power button and it worked. The next time I turned it on the same thing happened but if you keep doing the same thing it should work.

Hope this helps!

My camera will not let me turn it on

Put fresh batteries in and temporarily remove the disk. Make sure the camera powers up. When it does, go to the battery screen and select the correct battery type. Turn off the camera and reinsert the disk, then reformat the disk from the appropriate menu screen.

S85 camera will not turn on just beeps three times

I figured out the fix:
Take the batteries out, put them back in and close the battery cover. Next, turn on the camera and before it can finish the three beep sequence, open up the battery cover(disconnecting the battery power). Close the battery cover (reconnecting the batteries) and switch on the camera. It may take a couple of tries, but it seems to be a "poor man's reset"

Camera will not stay on.....

the 3 beeping sound means that the camera has low battery capacity. the lens is stuck out because there is incorrect battery connection. there is an option on the camera setting for the battery type. try this one:
-turn the camera on
-click on Menu button
-select options using left/right, up/down button
-select Set up 2
-Select Battery type
-Select Alkaline for non-rechargable
or Ni-MH for rechargable
-click OK button

this setting should be done when using camera for the first time and whenever you are switching battery types, from rechargable to non-rechargable and vice versa.

Camera turns on for three seconds, beeps three times, then stops.

It's the optical zoom. The motor that pushes it in and out died.
