Mcculloch I am trying to replace the spark plug on a mcculloch 16 inch. Standard spark plug fitting from ratchett set will not fit. Appears I have to remove housing to get to plug. Is there an easier way?

They sell a ratchet, thin walled at your local ace/ hardware store, made for chainsaws, actually a thin walled socket w/ holes in end for inserting a screwdriver, take saw w/ you. hope this helps. also it should have two sides one to take the bar off. loosen bolts. other bigger side to remove plug. if you bought the saw new it should have been in the kit.

What do i check if my saw doesnt start and it has spark

Make sure to use fresh fuel mixed at 40:1ratio. Pour a little fuel mix into the spark plug hole and try for start. If it pops a few times, look for fuel system problems. Check the fuel filter, air cleaner, and muffler for plugging. The carburetor may need internal cleaning and check the condition of the lower chamber diaphragm for flexibility, no holes, or cracks. If the saw if fitted with a primer bulb, make sure that it will fill with fuel when pumped several times. Hope this helps!

No spark

if you have tried new plug, remove pull start cover and remove kill wire from ignition coil ( tape wire up so it wont get caught on flywheel ) and refit starer cover - try and start if it starts - faulty ground wire between coil and stop switch or faulty stop switch

but if it does not start or saprk faulty ignition coil indicated
obtain a newignition coil and fit up and set air gap to 0.010 " and tighten the mount screws and refit the stop switch wires and starter cover and let rip
