Question about HP Printers & Copiers

1 Answer

I have an hp Laserjet 1012 printer and find that I do not possess any instructions for trouble shooting. My problem is that the printer persists in reprinting the same job given it several days ago and I cannot break the cycle. Among my questions is , "What are the buttons on the top right hand part of the machine?", and what are their uses? The answer to this may be my answer as the malfunction occured when the machine ran out of paper and I pressed the topmost button to restsrt it after replenishing the paper. Al Feather

Here is a link to the LJ1012. There are links for manuals, drivers, support forums, etc.

As to your question, here are the brief descriptions of the 2 lights and 2 buttons...from top to bottom:

1 Attention light: Indicates printer media input tray is empty, print cartridge door is open, print
cartridge is missing, or other errors.
2 Ready light: Indicates that the printer is ready to print.
3 Go button and light: To print a demo page or to continue printing while in manual feed mode,
press and release the Go button. To print a configuration page, press and hold the Go button
for 5 seconds.
4 Cancel Job button: When the printer is processing data, press the Cancel Job button to
cancel the print job.

Also, see if powering down the printer and unplugging it from the wall outlet for several minutes clears the repeating of the print job.

My HP LaserJet 1012 isn't printing.

Use the installation software that came on CD with your printer.
If you do not have a CD, click here and follow instructions to find the drivers for your printer.
Once your computer downloads driver installation package, run it and choose Repair or Reinstall, whichever available.
