Password my sons put a password on laptop and i cant access it.what can i do?

If it's an old machine with XP, download Ubuntu 14.04, put it on a flash drive and boot from the flash drive. You can make it dual boot or just Ubuntu, ad can access all that's on the computer.

You can remove or change the Window's User or administrator's password. You need access to a computer with Internet access to download the Hiren's Boot CD and burn it onto a CD. Then insert this CD into the laptop/computer and boot up the laptop/computer with the Hiren's CD and follow the instructions. is it a power on password or a hdd password...and what operating system are you using..

You need to remove the BIOS battery for a few minutes, then put it back on.
This will reset BIOS settings and cancel the password authentication prompt at booting.

If you have any other users you can try to remove your son's password from the other user account. If you don't then you'll need a password reset boot disk.

your best bet would be to put in a recovery disk! it should have come with the acer laptop if not contact acer and get one !!!
