Acer monitor: this is a common problem. Most of the time it is an powersupply fault. If you are tecnical and not afraid to soldeer,is it easy to repair. you have to change the condesators in the power supply. change C244,C263 (470uf/25V)and C241/C261 (1000uf/10v) you can find them on the supply board. Most of the time, you can see that they are bold on the top . The parts wont cost more then aprox. 4 euro's My advise is to change all four of them, even when they aren't broken, because you'll have the most work with taking the monitor apart. Try to keep the alu. stickers at one piece and watch the polarite from the condesators carefully ! succes! Jan.

Dell computer monitor wont come on when I turn

When you turn on most dell monitors they come on with a yellow light, then turn green when the monitor and video source synch. If your light is not turning from yellow to green, your monitor is either dead or not getting a signal from the video source it's plugged into. Verify in your BIOS settings that you have selected to output video through an installed card and not from the motherboard source. If the BIOS settings are correct, your monitor has died. If the light is turning green after you turn the computer on, press the menu button on the monitor and adjust the brightness/contrast until you have a picture. If you don't see anything when the menu button is pressed, then again your monitor is likely dead.

My emachine T1742 desktop will not turn on. When plugged in the power supply's fan turns on, cpu fan doesnt start, both hdd/power led's flicker and pressing power button doesnt power on/off system.

Disconnect all the devices from the computer(tower) including keyboard, mouse, monitor(everything)..even the power cable

Now keep on holding down the power button on the computer tower for 15-30 seconds..

Now release the power button, plug in the power cable, monitor, keyboard, mouse and turn on the computer...

If it works, great!!!

Otherwise, take it for repair..

My computer is an Acer Aspire ASE-360-U-A3503 desktop computer and I still cannot get the power up button to shut off no matter how long i press on it. Then the monitor cable connector on the CPU is not...

You seem to have two problems here: The power button and the video connection.
It should take 4 seconds of continuously holding the power button in for the PC to shut off, unless the settings under Power Saving say that doing this action should have a different outcome. Check your settings. If all is correct and you still cannot turn the machine off, you may have a deffective toggle switch. This is something you can get at Radio Shack or other electronics store.

Regarding the video connection: There's a set of buttons on most monitors where you can choose the input source. Your monitor has probably been set inadvertently to receive a DVI signal while it's connected via a VGA cable, or vice versa.
Good luck!

My brand new acer aspire one computer will not turn on. I have tried everything, taking the battery out, the light turns green on the power button but it will not turn on. HELP

Try pressing Function F5.
Since you say the power light does come on it could be that the display somehow got set to use an external display like another monitor or projector.
This toggles between internal and external display
