Question about RCA F32444 32" TV

2 Answers

No picture, sound ok.

I recently replaced the flyback transformer and horizontal output transistor when my tv originally lost the picture and normal sound. I thought I had corrected the problem until after a few days the picture started blacking out and then coming back on until it finally went out. I rechecked all my solder joints and connectors. i pulled the h.o.t. out of the circuit and it checked ok. my question is can i check the flyback transformer out of the circuit with an ohmmeter? And also is it possible the transformer may be breaking down? it was suppose to replace the original one, but was not a direct rca replacement. Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Re: no picture, sound ok.

The h.o.t and flyback has to be a direct replacement parts, replacing them with wrong parts might look like it works but it does not,if the original hot was shorted it might have failed by itself and it did not need the new flyback.I would remove the replacement flyback and reinstall the original and I would put it the exact replacement h.o.t,chech for loose conections every where but specially in the horizontal drive circuit. If the h.o.t goes shorted again then I will replace the flyback with an original replacement. Is the only safe way to do it.Check for loose conections or overheated parts everywhere.

When you change the flyback and the HOT you are supose to replace a small capacitor that came with the flyback and also the small coil l401 that connects the hot base to the horiz. driver transformer secondary is supose to be taken out, the leads scrapped off of insulation and resoldered into place.

Picture on Samsung TXL2791F gets smaller after a few minuets

The horizontal output transistor that drives the flyback transformer overheats now. There might be other reasons too for this fault. If the flyback transformer has any internal winding short, this transistor will overheat.
Just replace the horizontal output transistor. Check its heat. If the newly replaced transistor too overheats, replace the flyback transformer.

We replaced the transformer for our RCA F27650. It was sparking and now it is not, but now the screen won't turn on. It is just black. We hookd all the wires up like they were. we can hear sound, but...

Along with the flyback transofrmer, its horizontal output transistor also must be replaced. I don't know whether you have replaced it or not. If not, replace it too. It can be located very near to the flyback transformer, a three terminal component, black in colour, usually screwed to a metal heatsink. Then switch on the TV and measure the video output voltage at the video output card pluged directly to the picture tube neck. The collector of the video aoutput transistors must come around 145VDC. If it also is there, advance the screen control on the flyback transformer to get a raster. If that voltage is not there, it means that the flyback transformer is not working, and horizontal oscillator stage should be checked for oscillation, check the lined drive transformer for its primary winding open, Check the entire horizontal oscillator section. The collector point of the line drive transistor, the transistor that drives the line drive transformer, a small transformer soldered diretly to the printed circuit board; should be checked with frequency meter. The frequency at that point should come around 15525HZ approx: OK.

check your horizontal transistor maybe it's shorted replace horizontal transistor or maybe the fusible fuses are open check for open resistors at the horizontal section of the circuit.

Sound, no picture, Red LED 4 flashes

Hello Thanshar, Hi, you TV has sound, but no picture. this could be several things, and let us add the red led flash. In my analysis, no picture means no high voltage is reaching the picture tube. this could be due to a bad Horizontal output transistor, and/or a bad flyback transformer. This bad transistor is causing an overload to the power supply section, causing the 4 led flash to blink. Now i want to know if you want to do this service or get professional help. if you decide to do this by yourself, this needs to be performed: the Horizontal output transistor must be checked for short, the horizontal flyback transformer needs to be tested, the deflection yoke also needs to be checked, especially to horizontal coil.

My tv has no picture or sound. it makes a sound like its about toi come on but it doesn't. a red light just flashes

The Horizontal Output transistor needs to be changed as it is most likely shorted. The current transistor on this set is a 2SD3402 (no longer available) it's new replacement part number is the 2SC5902.
Order 2 2SC5902 Horiz Output transistors.Replace the transistor by it self once and if all is ok then fine.
If not replace it again and also the the Flyback HV transformer. The HOT transistor is probably shorted again and the transformer is causing it.

Tv problem

The F27442 uses the CTC203 series chassis and that symptom is very common. If the horizontal output is shorted you MUST resolder the coil in series with the base of that transistor and the pins of the small horizontal drive transformer. When they have been properly resoldered you can put in a new original horizontal output transistor. If the output transistor shorts out again then your flyback (high voltage) transformer is shorted and needs to be replaced.
