Question about WindCrest Pinnacle WPN36 Kitchen Hood

Open Question

Dacor vent, Pinnacle RV46

Unit is inoperative. No power to touch switches. An internal screw prevents me from sliding out the control sleeve at the right hand end. When I try to raise the vent manually, it seems to hit a solid obstruction at about 2 inches up. Any suggestions?
I hope you have info about the RV 46, Please phone me at:

SOURCE: Raised vent is Rising after being lowered

Hi,

My RV30S was installed by a qualified service technician in approximately the year 2000. It finally developed a mind of its own. It would raise up and run for a bit and then stop....sometimes it wouldn't raise up or go down....it would switch from fast to slow to stop.....it became frustratingly unusable....
...today i finally took it upon myself to take it apart and I determined that the controller board had fried.

Before I go on -> Disclaimer: These units are hard-wired to live A.C. power. These units must be serviced by technically qualified service personnel. I do NOT recommend anyone to attempt this service. I've worked in the past as an electrical engineer by trade. But to save you time and money you can shop and buy the parts you need yourself and then hire an appliance service technician to safely install them for you. This way they can't rip you off by over charging for the parts and you can certainly count the hours for the install.

The controller board is shown here. In my case, this diode fried.

I found a replacement controller on E-Bay for only $82 bucks and change. At the time of this writing they had 14 in stock.

It sounds like you may be having the same problem. But please be sure to hire a qualified appliance service technician to do the work. If he quotes a price for the controller board anything over 82 bucks, you will indeed will be in a better position to negotiate a better deal.

Hope this helps anyone that is having or will have the same problem with an older RV30....

How do I open it up to look for a blown fuse to circuit breaker?

When you remove the front control panel you will see the two fuses in the next internal section. Below are instructions for removing control panel:

You can do this without removing unit from wall. First unplug unit. Next remove the two screws on the top of the unit closest to the front. These screws simply keep the up facing vent in place. Next slide the vent to the left (plastic latches on bottom hold in place) to allow vent to be removed. You should now see a single screw above the control panel. Remove it then open the microwave door. Gently slide the control panel up which will disengage the plastic latches on the panel sides. Suggest if you are going to remove the controller and replace take a picture before removing it so you know exactly how to reconnect all the wires.

Light goes off and on by itself

I have the same problem with a DACOR ECS 130 and also set the breaker panel switch to OFF to prevent the light from turning on-off or staying on. It might help to unplug the touchpad connector behind the control panel or it may be a problem relay on a circuit board. I've had the problem for several years but will start work on it tomorrow because we do not bake often at my house.

P.S. I'm not an appliance tech but have had problems with the DACOR DM024 microwave( made by SHARP) and the DACOR raised vent. I think DACOR products are junk. The raised vent problem required replacing the entire circuit board!

My DACOR + ECS 130 covection oven light relay keeps clicking.....

I have the same problem and sent an e-mail to DACOR. A James Carlos responded and advised that DACOR could not provide DYI info because of liability problems, pure BS in my opinion. I've had problems with a DACOR microwave (manuf. by Sharp), my DACOR wall oven Model ECS103 and my DACOR Raised Vent system and told Mr. Carlos so. I don't know how to fix the blinking oven light other than cutting power at the circuit breaker panel or removing the two light bulbs which other have advised but suspect a new front control panel is required. If you find a fix, please advise me at bsquared37@yahoo.com. I think DACOR products are overpriced and junk.

Dacor Pinnacle Raised Vent

Unfortunately i had found myself in this same situation. i have no idea how the grill came out when it was closed, but it was stuck in the fan enclosure underneath the counter. Unlike the poster above i did not have access to the side screws to take the unit apart. instead i was able to remove the front panel, and then unscrew the motor arm from the protective case, and unscrew the case from the unit. This created enough wiggle room that i could raise the right side of the vent cover up and extract the left side out the bottom opening. then it was just a matter of reconnecting the arm to the cover and the cover to the unit.

Good Luck,
-Mark

WE ARE AN INDEPENDENT SERVICE CENTER AND WE REPAIR DACOR APPLIANCES IN AND OUT OF WARANTY. i HAVE A DACOR RNGE HOOD/VENT MODEL RV46 SER RH8390987; WE HAVE THE KEYBOARD AND KEYPAD BUT NEED TO KNOW HOW TO...

Since you're a Dacor-authorized warranty service center, I'm shocked they haven't sent you the service manual in your manuals subscription!

You should contact your warranty servicer liaison at Dacor for that, and ask them bulletin # 04-07, which includes:

"RV30, 36 & 48 produced after 1/30/04: units equipped with the 12A control board part # 72881, the mounting screw for the main terminal board could be in contact with the heat sink on the control board. If the board is touching the heat sink
symptoms will include: inability to change speeds at the touch pad, and the blower operating as soon as the unit is prompted to rise.

In some cases, the board may be damaged, however, preventing the screw from contacting the heat sink will usually correct the malfunction.

Units affected are RV 30, 36, & 48 with serial # prefix of 0405 and above. If you have questions, please contact Technical Service 800-35-DACOR."

Or you can see that bulletin and exploded views here.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Our Dacor Millennia wall oven will not heat

There is a manual reset button behind the vent under the touch pad. Turn off the power. Open the door. Remove the vent. Behind the latch is a two wire switch. press the red button on it until it clicks. reassemble and turn on power. It over heated when the power went off by stopping the cooling fan.
