Sony BM88 Won't play tapes...just beeps

Hello. I'm hoping someone can help me. I have a Sony BM88 Transcriber for standard cassettes. I plugged everything in. When I use the foot pedal all I hear is a beeping noise and the tapes won't play. I actually have the same problem with 3 machines and all are Sony BM88. Anyone have any clues as to what is wrong?

Hello the reazon the your units are beeping is probaly you don't used that often they have a thin driver belt that if you don't turn the unit on the belt gets a marc that is dificult to pass Make sure yo select the speed switch at 4.8 and turn the unit on a cople time you will hear a doble clic that means is ready if just sound like it drags you will need to send it to service here is one place that I recomend Send an email to service@tvps.com

If the beep is immediate when you press the pedal, the unit is not detecting the tape being inserted. One of the switches may be bad. If you are using a HQ music cassette, there are extra notches on the back of the cassette. Cover them with tape.
If the beep is 1 second or more after pressing the pedal, there is a mechanical problem with the deck.

Hello,

No, this unit does not have an erase feature. You would need a magnetict tape eraser such as a BE10.

The machine won't erase my tapes? Is there a chance it could be a faulty machine?

Does the erase light come on and the tape rewinds? Or does it just beep when you try? Could be a bad erase switch, sometimes pressing harder will do the trick. If it just beeps, try another tape.

I have a new Sony Microcassette Transcriber M-2000 and cannot figure out how to ERASE a tape that I've transcribed. The Operating Instructions don't mention that feature, either. Can you help me?

Hello sorry the M-2000 don't have the ERASE feature but your only option is to get a tape eraser you can get one at http://www.tvps.com/Products/ECS-ME20-Mini--Micro-Cassette-Eraser---New__VE-ME-20.aspx just think positive your unit will last longer the eraser prolong the life of units just pass the microcassete once on the eraser and is done full erase :)

Dictaphone transcriber 3750 won't play, reverse, or go forward. What can I do?

Does anything show up on the display? Like 'No Cassette' or 'End Tape'?

Are you using a foot control? Does the tape move when pressing the buttons on the machine itself? Is the foot control plugged into the side of the machine (and NOT the back)?

Dictaphone ExpressWriter system - tape will not rewind, play, ff

Is this a standard-size cassette unit? Is the model number a 2740 or 2750? When you first plug the power in, does the machine make two clicking noises? Does the display show 'CAS' or 'No Cassette'?

Suddenly my Sony M-2000 Microcassette Transcriber will not PLAY. The tape will Rewind and Fast Forward fine, but when you push PLAY, it just beeps and won't move. Any ideas?

Just talked to Exec. Communication Systems. He said that the play motor is not turning (the rewind and fast forward uses a separate motor) and the problem is either the belt or the motor. They can repair them at $82.00 plus parts and shipping.

Dictaphone 3750 transcriber

If it does this with all tapes, there is a small "no-cassette" switch at the back of the cassette compartment. The switch may be broken, dirty or out of adjustment. When you open the cassette door you should be able to see the switch tab. Push it in just a bit to see if the No Tape indicator goes out.
