Question about Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
Go click preferences->click connect directly to the internet (again..even though it has been already chosen)-> choose your connection and connect..i guess it will work..it worked for me..try it!

Well you can open internet explorer and check if your internet explorer is working offline... connect your internet explorer to the internet... this worked for me....

THIS IS AN EASY PROBLEM, ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS TO GO TO OPEN INTERNET EXPLORER CLICK TOOLS>INTERNET OPTIONS>CONNECTIONS>LAN SETTINGS "check the AUTOMATICALLY DETECT SETTINGS and unchecked the PROXY SERVER...thats all!!! Hope this can help..

Open internet explorer go to Tools - Internet Options then click Connections tab - LAN Settings tab
Check Automatically Detect settings radio button.

Change your connection properties.
Connect via HTTP proxy. I've had the same problem and this helped.

This is how i fixed my problem with this error:
Go open Internet Explorer and go in the File menu and uncheck at the bottom the Work Offline option. Then go to a site using IE. Close IE. Open Yahoo Messenger and log in. That's it, it worked for me.

If you receive or encounter that error for messanger 9, just close it and then try to log-in again, i think its a bug with the new version
