My dvd is not read by my laptop only cd is read by this...so solve the problem sir..

In most cases there is Optical Drive fault. To be more precise - laser that reads data is worn. You could try to clean the lenses with pressurized air or try to clean it with special disc. If none of these helps then Optical Disc Drive needs to be replaced.

Hello! My Acer Aspire 4736 Laptop is not recognizing any CD/DVD. It has TSSTcorp CDDVDW TS-L633B ATA Device driver installed but i dont know wahts the porblem

Hi,

The CD/DVD drive or optical drive is not reading any discs due to either hardware malfunction or operating system registry inputs. To correct the issue, follow the below steps.

- Reload BIOS (Basic Input Output System) default settings by pressing F10, Del.. (depends on what key is designed to access the BIOS setup)
- Use a bootable disc (like Operating system disc). Try to boot to the disc, if successful, your optical drive is surely working fine. If not, you need to reinsert it or replace it.
- If you are able to boot to disc successfully, it means that the Operating System needs to be reinstalled or upper and lower filter of the cd/dvd drive in the registry needs to be deleted.

Here are some links that you can check to resolve the issue without reinstalling the Operating System.

http://support.microsoft.com/mats/cd_dvd_drive_problems/en-us
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929461 (in this lick, follow the instructions under "Let me fix it myself" section)

Hope this helps.

Whenever i put some CD/DVD, it doesn't read at all and I receive this message "Please insert a CD in CD Rom" and there is yellow icon on the device as its drivers are not installed but when i...

Go into Device Manager and remove the optical drive from the list. Restart the computer. It should detect "New Hardware", identify it and install the correct driver.

What's going on: apparently there was a glitch or bug in the Windows 7 upgrade. The DVD drive is misidentified in the Registry as a CD-ROM drive, but it kept the old driver. Of course, Windows 7 thinks a DVD driver is incorrect, so it puts a yellow warning flag on it in Device Manager. It also refuses to acknowledge any disc in there except a CD (stupid computer!). So we need to get the incorrect info out of the registry before Windows will run the optical drive properly.

If Windows 7 gets stubborn about it, turn off the computer, look for the optical drive retaining screw, and take it out and physically remove the optical drive. Now, you should be able to remove the optical drive from the Registry. Restart the computer, double check that the optical drive is gone from Device Manager, then shut it down again. Put the optical drive back in the computer and turn it on. This time it should get everything right.

Cd rom

For this model there is updates available for the CD/DVD driver.
1. Major advantages of first update:
- Resolves an issue where sometimes the drive will not read discs.
- Resolves an issue where the optical drive icon displays incorrectly after inserting blank formatted DVD media.
*Download this update*

2.Advantages of second update.
- CD/DVD drives may not appear in My Computer.
*Download this update*

Hope this will resolve the issue with CD/DVD drive. Best of luck!!!

Optical drives tend to wear out. Try the disc on another PC. If it works, then your drive is dieing

Sony Vaio Notebook's blu-Ray optical drive stops during DVD play

The laser is definitely weak on that drive, it takes alot of power to play blu-ray discs and if the laser may have been slightly defective to begin with then that can cause the drive to act funky the way it has been.

Whatever blu-ray drive you get doesn't matter as long as the shape of it is the same as the one you have now cause all you would have to do is change out the front door and the screw holder on the back of the drive, then because the shape of the drive is the same, you can move it back into its slot.

Your notebook is new enough to where any drive will work in it.

Boot Disc's Not reading, Dvd rom help? or Xp/vista help?

How did you made it boot to the disc? if you used keystrokes to do so, it would be better if you go into your BIOS and set the boot priority making the dvd drive as priority and see if it is gonna work that way. If it does'nt you need to be concerned about the drive itself, it might be having problems as well.

Trying to run recovery disc on computer and cd rom isn't reading

I see this as one of 2 possible failures.
  1. Optical drive failing. Take out the Hard drive, see if the recovery disk, or another bootable disk will boot. If no change, replace the optical drive.
  2. Hard Drive failing. If the system will boot to a CD with the HDD out or if replacing the optical drive has no change, then the HDD is the next logical failure point.
