Burning smell took everything apart suction is working throughout hose and bag, replaced bag and belt, roller is turning seems to be missing the suction from the main floor section into the roller?
I had burning smell and some visible smoke which I tracked down to the handle area. The mains socket at the bottom of the handle had burned out. When I pulled the plug out I noticed that the prongs were blackened and scorched. I will replace the socket.

1. Start by removing the screws that secure the bottom plate of your vacuum. 2. Once the bottom plate is removed, you will find the belt inside, as well as the belt pulley and drive wheels. 3. Disconnect the belt from the belt pulley. 4. Align the new belt over the belt pulley and drive wheels so that the teeth of the belt match up with the grooves on the pulley. 5. Wrap the belt around the pulley and drive wheels, and then reattach the belt to the pulley with the supplied clips. 6. Reassemble the vacuum and you're done!
Even with your explanation,it seems the hose is clogged.Try taking the hose off, then blow through it or pour water through it.If this doesn't do it,make sure the suction canals are going to the proper areas.
Sounds like the belt should be replaced. It maybe turning the brush, but if you smell burning rubber, its slipping and not turning the brush with as much force as it should. Changed the belt. Check the air suction path. If the suction is reduced, something is blocking it. Check the bag (if it has one) and all filters. If the machine picks up any liquid, it will reduce the air flow through the filters and bag. Change the bag and filters. If this is an upright, you may find caked on dirt under or in the area of the brush.
Does the odor smell like burnt rubber....if so you may have burned out the belt which is common. The filter can smell if you have pets and the machine will blow the odor back in to the room after the filter gets older.Check to see that the roller brush is spinning when it is turned on if not shut it off and try to turn it manually with your hands. If it turns very easily the belt gone if it is almost impossible to turn you need a new roller brush. You can replace the filter to help with the smell but if it is the belt you smell it will go away in time. Also make sure that you have the container on perfectly as if it is not it will not create a perfect seal and you will have very little suction. The other thing you can check is the hose to see if the suction is good through it. If the hose has good suction then the power head may be plugged with something and you will need to get a screwdriver and take the bottom plate off the same way as if you were changing the belt and then you can look for a blockage as well as access the belt and roller brush. I hope this was helpful to you ...good luck
Sounds like the main suction pipe is blocked.
Unplug, and in good light - see if you can see any obstructions in the pipe from the prush area to the bag (in a bagless vacuum) or to the fan in a bag model.
About once a month as I have German Shep dogs and cuz of the hair I check all the hoses to make sure they are free of dust bunnies. I also take the bottom plate off the roller, turn the lever to losen the belt and take the roller off. Clean/cut all the strings, hair etc off the roller , check the belt for cracks and burns and replace if need be. Put the roller cover back on, and reconnect the belt.
Then on the side of the machine where the bag attaches, this also slides out to clean. Sometimes heavier items will get stuck in there so that dog hair and larger items cannot pass to the bag and it clogs. This will make your suction very low.
Also a good check inside the bag compartment and clean with the attachment hose if need be, helps a great deal with ordor and dust when turned on. Especially if you have dogs/dander and hair. Ive also put carpet fresh inside my bag to keep the doggy ordor down.
Look for a missing belt that may have burned off or broken. Was there a burning smell at some point before the roller quit turning? If so, the belt must be replaced. I would also look at the ends of the roller to see if there is any string, hair, etc. that might be binding the roller that needs to be removed.
you still have a clog in there something is keeping the brushes from spinning. Be sure to remove any hair/string etc twisted around the brushes. Make sure the belt hasn't slipped off the metal pin behind the brushes, this is what creates the rotation. The brushes have a hard plastic molding on each end that fit into the sides of the vacuum. Make sure you have these on the right way or they will strip out and you have to replace the housing and the brushes. Have you cleared any blockages from the feed behind the brushes? Be sure to take the hose and extend it out and run a broom handle or something down it to be sure you do not have something lodged in there. Good luck .. if you need more detail post back. These can be rebuilt if needed, hopefully it is just something lodged further down the suction canal.
what probably happened is you swapped end over end when you replaced the beater brush. anyway go to thehooverstore, find your machine and you'll see an exloded diagram of your machine.
