Want to update driving directions/maps on harmon/kardonGPS-500NA

Update on map

Updating your firmware will not correct that problem. I think your maps may be out of date and does not know what to do. I don't know how long you have had your unit but if its under a year old Im pretty sure your entitled to free updates for your maps. If it over a year old then you need to go to www.garmin.com and purchase new updated maps.

Harmon-Kardon has an update page that will allow you to download the "latest software and firmware" for your 300WE GPS.

I did not see anything about maps specifically, but you could contact H-K Customer Support directly.

The Garmin GPS are among the easiest to use and they have the most complete mapping on the market. To update the mapping, there are several versions of the software integrated into these road gps. To name a few, city navigator version 8 and City Navigator 2008. With a newer version, you have the most recently built streets, new shops, new parking lots, etc.. To update, there are several ways to proceed. First, before you update your maps, I recommend you check if there is a newer version of the maps, visit garmin and download the plugin. You can also view the maps version directly on your gps.

nope im afraid you will have to cough up for the new maps (map corrections etc will only show new one way directions, and new or adjusted POIs), might be a good idea to wait till brand new maps are available before you splash any cash, good luck

Hope this helps looks like you haveto pay for map updates after 30 days, but I am not positive.

Garmin puts out map updates on a regular basis. You must purchase these. The GPS comes loaded with maps that are current as of the date of production of the unit. It cannot "know" when new roads are paved and new subdivision are created without being "told" via map updates. The unit knows where it is in relation to the maps loaded on it by receiving signals from the GPS satellites in orbit. If things change, the maps must be changed in order for the unit to give you correct directions.
