I want to scan to my documents and the scan only scans to photo essentials. What do I do?

How are you scanning it ? From HP Solutions Center or HP Director ?

Try this step.

Open HP Director or HP Solution Center.

Under Settings you will find Pictures/Document Scan
Below you will find option like File Type : Choose JPEG or PDF

Save it.

IF this does not work, the best option for you is to uninstall HP Photosmart Essentials from Add/Remove programs ( or Control panel - Programs and Features )

But however, by default the pictures/documents are still saved in MY Documents - My Scans folder even if the Photosmart essential pop-up after you scan

HP print drivers are notorious for loading a bunch of crapware. Especially on the multi-function printers.

If you do not use the scanning features...I.E. you just print and copy. I would

Step one: Uninstall the All-in-One software Even if the installation failed, some HP software components might have installed on the computer. Follow these steps to use the Windows Add or Remove Programs tool to uninstall the software.
  1. Disconnect the USB cable from the product.
  2. Click Start , and then click Control Panel .
  3. Click Add or Remove Programs . The Add or Remove Programs window opens.

Want to unistall hp c3150 because it did not work when i go to remove it does not say hp all in one series is says hp photosmart office jet 7.0a is that what we want to remove. So we can start all over...

You can go to Start>All Programs>HP and look for an uninstall selection for the installed printer. If there is other HP software (Essentials, etc.) uninstall them also.

Then go to Start>Printers and Faxes. Right click on any printer icon present and select Delete.

Unplug the usb cable from the printer (or computer) and reboot the computer.

Remember...DO NOT connect the usb cable until the software prompts you.

Here is the HP Support page for your printer for added info.

Scanner not working but printer/copier does.

With your all-in-one properly connected and powered up, open your HP Essentials program and hit "get images" and choose scanner, then click OK on the next window which should show your printer as the only choice. Otherwise, scroll to choose the appropriate one, then click ok and it should begin. Alternately, open Hp Solution Center and hit the Scan Picture or Scan Document button, but I believe the initial use needs to come from the HP Essentials program.

If this still does not work, remove programs through control panel, and also delete from program file. Restart and reinstall fresh programs.

Beyond this, you either have a faulty usb connection or you machine needs service.

Good Luck
