you have to access the router through web browser (Internet Explorer)
by typing the IP address of your router in the address bar, which is
192.168.0.1 (Default router settings are written under the router) (unless you've configured otherwise, the default username is admin and the password "leave it blank") and lookup for the options to do the
1.On the left-hand side, under Setup, click "Wireless Setup"
2.Under "Wireless Security Mode", select your desired encryption method (preferably WPA2-PSK) 3.Choose/change the Network Key - it can be anything, as long as it's 8-63 characters in length 4. Click Save Settings. Now your router and your connection would become secure and the user has to provide the network key to access the internet.
Also, for additional security, you may try the followng steps: - 1. Change the SSID (Name) of the router 2. Change the default administrative user name and password (The above step would prevent unauthorized access to your router)
Let me know if any further clarification/ assistance is required. Hope it helps! Good Luck! Don't forget to convey your feedback and approciate the efforts. CreativeTECH
Hi, when you reset your router the password is reset to default, and that default is admin admin. And to reset it, at the rear is a small hole in the hole is a button, remove from the power, and depress the button for a few seconds, then connect the power and try to logon again with your browser using the default settings.
It is also all explained in your user manual link below...
You may access your touter homepage by typing 192.168.0.1. username is User and leave the password blank. click home tab and click wireless tab. Set your SSID name. This the name that you want on your network and this is visible to all when they tried to search for wireless network. Enable WEP. Select WEP input key you wish to use.
If you've forgotten the username and password, there is really no viable solution other than resetting the router. All the software can be found on linksys' website, along with manuals for reconfiguring your router. Breakout your trusty paperclip and press the reset button on the back of the router. Reconfiguring should only take a few minutes. The default username will be "admin" and the default password is "password" (both without the quotes.)
Resetting the router would clear the username and password. The you can go to 192.168.0.1 in your browser and set a new username and password. D-Link Router reset Step 1 Locate the reset pinhole on the back of the unit. Step 2 With the unit powered on, press and hold the Reset button. Step 3 Hold the Reset button for about 10 seconds. Step 4 Release the Reset button. Step 5 The unit will reboot. Allow 20-30 seconds before reconnecting. Step 6 The device is now at factory defaults. Note: Do not recycle power during the reset procedure. The default user name for most D-Link devices is admin and the password is left blank. When it says hold for about 10 seconds, don't hold for more than ten seconds or the procedure will likely fail, if ten seconds doesn't work try 5 seconds. The user manual is on this link: http://www.scribd.com/doc/2091490/DI624-manual If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it. Thanks, Joe
If you want to secure the router itself you have to launch your web browser. Type in the router's ip address on the address bar. Admin is the default username and leave the password field blank. Click on the Tools tab then make sure that Admin is highlighted to the top left corner of the page. Then change your administrative username and password on that page and click apply.
If you want to secure your wireless network. you have to launch your web browser. Type in the router's ip address on the address bar. Admin is the default username and leave the password field blank. Click on the Home tab then click on wireless to the right of the page. Make up something for your ssid. Select enabled for wep. Then delete the all zeros on key 1 and make up something for your password. Make sure that your password is 10 digits and you can only use numbers from 0-9 and letters from a-f. then click apply.
Open out a paper clip, pull the power connection out of the back of the DLink.
On the back of the DLink is a tiny hole with "reset" written above it, poke the end of the paper clip into the hole untill you feel a tiny switch click down, hold the switch down and put the power plug back in (this takes three hands) hold the switch down for ten seconds and your modem/router will be set back to factory settings.
try admin and try with username only or with password only.
It's been a month or two since I did a DLink and I cant remember which it is.
