Question about Pantech Duo Smartphone

Windows/xp driver for pantech duo

My son has a pantech duo and when we connect it to the usb port on our pc (xp), windows cannot find the required driver(s). I can't seem to find anything on the pantech website. HELP!

    Additional info: I have installed activesync and it does not detect the device either. I am sure the usb port is functioning properly, since I can use it for other devices.

    I am using windows xp and i can seem to get the OS to recognize the phone. if i plug the phone in to my friends visa computer it will work fine. i don't have the software that comes with the phone. Please help

Install the latest Duo software load, from:
http://www.pantechusa.com/html/images/software/download.htm

If you still have ActiveSync problems, try:
1) install activesync software
2) On the phone, go to Settings > Connections > Modem Link > then set the modem link status to INACTIVE.
3) On the phone, go to Settings > Connections > USB to PC > then select Enable advanced network functionality.
4) plug the phone in via USB to PC... the sync software will recognize the phone automatically when connected, and windows will not ask for driver install.

How do you transfer existing photos to the memory card of a Pantech Duo? I can't find the memory card in the phone menu or on the screen of my computer, when I connect with the USB.


You have to look for it in My Computer. It should be labeled as something like 'Removable Disk' or 'Memory Card' or whatever name you assigned to the card. Also when connecting to the computer, select USB Mass Storage Device when prompted on the phone.

How do i connect pantech duo to my computer?


Download ActiveSync for free and then your PC will recognize your phone .You will need the USB cable. I got one for about $10 off ebay. It's very sweet.

Not to make calls and such, but its internet capabilities will only work if you have internet on your service plane with your carrier.

THE DISK THAT CAME WITH MY PANTECH DUO IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH WINDOWS VISTA AND I CAN NOT SET UP MY PHONE


try this:

make sure Modem Link on the phone is set to Inactive by going to:

At the Home screen, press the left soft key to go into the Start menu.
  • Click on Settings.
  • Click on Connections.
  • Click on Modem Link.
  • If it is set to Active, press the control pad left or right to select Inactive, and press the left soft key Done.
However, if the Modem Link is was already set to inactive. Do the following:
  • At the Home screen, press the left soft key to go into the Start menu.
  • Click on Settings.
  • Click on Connections.
  • Click on USB to PC.
  • Make sure Enable advanced network functionality is not checked. Then press the left soft key, Done.
After performing this step the phone should connect to your computer via usb and Vista should successfully detected it and you should be able to copy files over and get it set up.

Cannot connect my PDA to PC


Hi,

Normally for when you connect any device to pc using USB port, windows detects it. Sometime it may take time.
Few initial things you may check....

1) You must have your PDA in ON condition
2) If PDA is not getting connected on port, try connecting to other USB port (assuming that pc normally have more than one USB port)
3) Make sure the cable that you are using between PDA to PC is working properly (normally you can check this by using other cable)
4) If you have intalled some anti virus program on your pc then check the settings of same.
5) last but not least check the settings of window's firewall (part of OS)

If everything of above is fine then either USB ports of pc or of PDA might not be working.

Pantech duo does not sync: computer does not recognize device


I have Windows Vista and the same problem. The link below (from an AT&T Forum), has someone suggesting the following:

"Did you try unchecking advanced network functionality, Start > Settings > Connection > USB to PC?".

I unchecked that box on the phone, and it worked!
