This freezer is at our church. We had a supper and what was left over went into the freezer. At the time it loaded the temp. was 10-20 below 0, in the blue on the gage. That was Sunday. Thursday evening the temp. was +40 degrees and the food was starting to thaw. The next morning the temp. was back down to 10-20 below, in the blue. Yesterday morning the temp. was in the blue. Last tnight it was in the red at about 15+ degrees and the same this afternoon. What's up?

Sounds like a refrigerant restriction in the system. Recover the refrigerant, replace the filter drier and pull a deep vacuum on the system before recgarging.

Is your circulating fan working?
Sometimes they stick and need a shot of WD 40 and then work
it back and forth a little until it wants to take off again. Keep me informed
and PLEASE give a Thumbs Up for the effort. The Raz Shack
SOURCE: the unit begins a defrost cycle without warning
in general, a freezer will go into a defrost cycle about every 6 hours and usually from 25 to 40 minutes. After the defrost, the unit should function normal. Pull down to temp and cycle off. If the product shows signs of thawing, then I would be concerned about the box temp. Defrost may be too long or some other issue may be effecting it. Otherwise, if no signs of thawing, I wouldn't be too concerned. It's the product condition that is the concern.

I would look to see if it is tripping during the defrost cycle. One of the heater elements my be faulty. Never heard of a bad TXV causing a breaker tripping, but I guess it's possible. I would adjust the superheat so that it is about 6 to 8 degrees just prior to unit reaching temp and shutting off. I'd start there.
