Try to install the keyboard software if available. If the issue persists, the k/b is faulty. It would be cheaper to buy a new k/b that to try and fix it.

Which is an function key in keyboard

(FuNction key) A keyboard key that works like a shift key to activate a second function on a dual-purpose key. Commonly found on laptop keyboards, the Fn key is often used to control hardware functions such as screen brightness and speaker volume. The Fn key may also be found on extra small keyboards for desktop computers, typically for Page Up and Page Down, which are combined with Up Arrow and Down Arrow. See function key.

Jarmy computer says keyboard failure

Hi there,

This means that your computer does not detect a keyboard plugged in it. Make sure the keyboard is properly plugged in. You may want to restart the computer and re-plug the keyboard. If this error still shows, try to plug the keyboard to another computer. If it works, then you have a defective keyboard port on your computer's board. You can just buy a usb keyboard just to be able to use your computer with keyboard again.

However, if when plugged into another computer and the keyboard failure still was detected, then you might have a defective keyboard that needs replacement.

Please let me know how this helps you. Thank you for using FixYa.

My sons hp keyboard will not work

Hello janene hi, you can check your son's HP keyboard, by testing the keyboard on another computer, just make sure the PC is off when you swap the keyboard, if the keyboard malfunction, replace the keyboard with a new one, we don't usually repair the keyboard, after market keyboards are available cheap.

My desktop doesn't recognize my keyboard

Try a different keyboard on your computer.
If that works, try your keyboard on a different computer.
If it fails, then replace the keyboard.

Cursor jumps around when typing. It will go anywhere in the document. Happens in all programs.

What type of keyboard you are using (PS/2 or USB)? Is that a regular keyboard or multimedia keyboard? You need to isolate the problem. Please follow the steps below.

If you are using a USB keyboard:

1. Connect the keyboard into different USB ports of the computer.
2. Connect the keyboard into different computer.
3. Try using different keyboard to see if the problem will persist.

If that is a wireless keyboard:

1. Try replacing the battery
2. Connect the receiver into different USB ports.

Check the keyboard settings:

1. Go to the Control Panel > Keyboard
2. Adjust the keyboard settings and speed.

Hope it helps and have a great day!

Windows Vista, my keyboard stopped operating. I changed the old keyboard with a different keyboard that was working on another computer. Now that keyboard will not work on either computer. HP was NO h

What type of keyboard are you using? Is it a PS/2 or USB type of keyboard? If it's a PS/2 keyboard (with round purple connector), you may need to restart the computer after connecting it to the computer. But if it's a USB keyboard, there's no need to restart the computer because USB is just a Plug-n-Play device.

You need to isolate the problem. If you're using a USB keyboard, try connecting the keyboard into different USB port of thecomputer. Or try different computer to see if the keyboard is still functioning or not.

If you got the same problem after pertorming some test, it's better to consult the computer manufacturer for second opinion.

Good luck!
