Hi all,
I tried numerous solutions for this issue and none of them worked except this one. I tested it with Vista Ultimate and don’t know if other Vista versions have the same drivers but here’s what worked for me:
1. Right click ‘Computer’ then left click ‘Properties’ to open up System window.
2. Click ‘Device Manager’
3. Click ‘+’ on ‘Display Adapters’ and you should see the drivers for your video. Right click and select ‘Update Driver Software...’
4. Select ‘Browse my computer for driver software’ and click ‘next’.
5. Click ‘Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer’
6. Untick ‘Show compatible hardware’
7. Select ‘Intel Corporation’ then select ‘Intel 82865G’. Click next
This will install the drivers. No they are not the same drivers for the hardware but they work a treat!

Hi
just checking through internet and looks like gx260 is not compatable with vista:

vista logo compatable: no

upgrade reccomended: no

Requires Intel Network Adapter update not included on RTM media. Video support is marginal at best. However, installation is functional. thats what i found! Hope it helps

My dell optiplex gx 260 has a blank screen when I turn it on. The windows xp professional screen comes up then when it goes to where the desktop should show up all I get is a gray screen

1. From reading your issue it seems the video card is defective.
2. If you have received the Windows XP splash screen and then the monitor displays a gray screen then only two things have happened here your drivers are corrupt for the video card or the video card itself has failed.
3. Suggestion: install a new video card compatible with Windows XP.
4. Most Dell Optiplex desktops have the video graphics card integrated to the the mother board.

I upgraded optiplex GX260 with Windows Vista. I lost video resolution on the monitor. Can you email me the link for the driver? Thanks, paa

Vista has a cutoff date on desktop computers for supporting drivers for video.
Your options are to go back to XP, or see if your computer has a spare
PCI slot, if so then buy a PCI VGA board that is Vista supported.
When you open your case and install the board, bootup and Vista
will detect the new VGA board and install the required drivers.

Please describe your I have dell OptiPlex GX260 PC i tried to find it Ethanet driver at dell support but only have drivers for windows XP, but i am using Vista. I want driver that will work with windows...

That model Optiplex was made so long ago it's no longer in production and they are not going to make a driver for windows vista for it. Your best bet is to install either a half-height PCI network card or a USB network adapter that is supported under windows vista.

Bought a used Dell GX260 and loaded Windows XP Pro on it. All was well except the drivers for Network, Audio and Video. I successfully located and installed the audio and network drivers but nothing...

Try this one

http://www.softwaredriverdownload.com/dell_optiplex_gx260_vga_driver.html

Ensure only VGA drivers are left/ Uninstall any others.

Just a thought, if this machine has a 3DFX card then you need that models driver.

Also ensure the BIOS is set to Graphics card 1st if one is installed.

As the person above said, that video card will not work with Windows Vista. You are basically left with 2 options:

1. Downgrade the computer to Windows XP, in which the video card will work with

2. Purchase a new video card like this one

Really the choice is yours, but I would downgrade and save the $!
