Question about EliteGroup ECS P4M800-M Socket 478/P4M800/FSB800/A&V&L/M-ATX Motherboard (MOTEC18)

Upgrade ECS FSB800 memory from 1 GB to 2 GB wont work

When trying to upgrade memory from 1GB to 2 GB the machine will not boot. I am simply adding exact same DIMM to second slot and it hangs at IRQ screen. Is there an issue with this motherboard not accepting more than 1GB. Is it a BIOS issue?

This board will support up to 2gb as shown below extacted from the website product page.Don't forget that if you have ddr 333 memory installed originally, you can only add the same clock speed memory, i.e. ddr 333. If you add ddr333 and ddr400 you will have problems as the clock speeds do not match. If you are matching clock speeds, the try bootin the system with the new piece of memory on its own to see if there is a problem with that stick, trial an error of both sticks individually, will give a positive result

Trying to upgrade t5082 emachines from 1/2 to to 2g. the only way it will boot is if I leave the 1/2g in slot one & put one of the 2g in slot 2. Is there a way to make slot 1 read the 2g?

Your motherboard has a 1GB limit per slot so the 2 GB sticks are simply not recognized. Take them back and replace them with a 2x1GB set if you still want to upgrade the RAM.

Upgraded my p35-S6292 laptop from 512gb to (2) 1GB

make sure that the two memory module have the same speed. say for example. if the first memory has a 667mhz speed the other memory should also be 667mhz. different memory speeds will cause conflicts.

I would first try to upgrade your ram, i wouldnt want to touch a computer with less than 1GB of ram, and your only running 1/2 of that and playing a FPS game. Try to get another GB of ram, Newegg.com is a great place to shop for good prices and excellent customer service. If you only have 2 slots on your motherboard, you will have to take the 256mb chips out to replace them with larger ones. If that is the case, try replacing one of them with a 1GB stick.

Memory upgrade issue

Most ram has to go in pairs. Buy another stick of the 1GB, and it will run fine.

Memory upgrade

you can use any DDR 180pin. But having two RAM of different speeds may not be compatible sometimes, so upgrade it to 1Gb by just using (1) 1Gb pc3200.
