Alot of times when you have a computer that was just reloaded and hooked back up to the router and it doesnt work, most times the router and cable modem just needs to be reset. Turn off the computer.  Then on the router itself, on the back of the router is a little pinhole. Take a paperclip or a pin and stick it in the hole and press the button inside the hole. After doing so the router lights will start flashing and eventually go back to normal. Do the same for your Cable Modem .Then turn your computer on and then go into network connections to see if your computer is back on the network.                                                                  Hope this helps                                                                    Joe < Data Miner >
P.S. Added note:  You might want to double check in your network properties That your NWLink/Netbios and  Tcp/Ip  is installed.  Inorder to get there, click on network places,  view network connections,  and then right click on Local Area Connection. Left click on Properties and then see if NetBios is in there....

When I turn off my emachines desktop, I lose the internet connection on my router

That is a common problem with Verizon, especially if you are connected via old copper. Frequently, wet weather causes dropped connections

Does not connect 2 internet

Are you getting any error messages? Is your computer plugged directly into a modem, or is it connected directly to a router. Is the computer connecting to the internet using a wireless network card? If connected directly to the modem, shut off the modem, wait a few seconds and restart; also reboot your computer. If that does not work, go into device manager If you're running windows xp - it can be found by going into control panel - system - device manager and see if your network card is listed without any x's or other markings which indicate a problem with the device. If your network card is indicated with no markings, and it is not working, try downloading and reinstalling the drivers for your system's network connection device (you can get that from your system's support page). If your plugged into a router, or if your connecting to the internet via wifi, try shutting off and restarting the router. Reboot your computer and see if that works. If not, you might need to download and install a firmware upgrade for the router. This is relatively simple, and the instructions and appropriate download file can be found at your router manufacturer's support page. Try these and see which works. Good luck!

Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit and No Internet

It sounds to me like you need a new driver for the LAN adapter that is compatible with Windows 7 64 bit. Right click on Computer under the start menu, chose manage, and open the Device Manager applet. Look for your network card under Network adapters. Right click on your adapter and click on properties. Go to the driver tab and click on update driver. You can also try uninstalling the driver from there and then have the computer scan of new hardware from the device manager screen and let Windows reinstall the driver. Let me know what you find so I can help you further troubleshoot if this does not fix the problem.

XP wont connect to internet through Sky Sagem Router

NO Internet
· reinstall drivers first including the network adapters.
· power cycle the modem and router (turn-off the modem and router, and wait for 10-15 seconds before powering on the modem first, then wait for 3-4 solid lights before you turn-on the router; check a website, or else
· bypass router (by directly connecting your computer to the modem)
· checked a website
· checked the IP address by clicking start button for winXP, click run and type cmd, on the c:> prompt type ipconfig then hit enter, get the IP: if the IP address starts with 169.254.x.x…the type ipconfig /renew…or else type first ipconfig /release, then type ipconfig /renew.
· If media is disconnected, check the modem cable that runs at the back of the computer, unplugged and plug it back, or try other cat 5/ modem cable.
· Check the device manager for network adapter (is properly working), by right click on my computer, click on properties, and click on hardware tab, and click hardware manager button, click the plus sign next network adapters, makes sure there is no markings such ? ! or X marks, or else install the device manager for the Ethernet card.
· Type Ping google.com, check if the it receives and sends packet, if it does, then check the browser…
· Check browser settings, delete cookies, temp files on general tab…(click on tools->internet options), click on the connections tab, the make sure it is “never dial a connection”, check the LAN settings, make sure that there is no marks or checks on the boxes..click ok. Click on the advanced tab, click on the button “restore defaults”. Hit apply and ok. Close the browser, and open it up again and check for online website.
· Once connected, install back the router, if the there is no website shown, please your router brand support line for the reconfiguration of the router.

Laptop Cannot Find Home Wireless Network

Try logging into the router with your desktop hard-wired and find the 25-digit passcode and use that to log on to the wireless network with the laptop. If not, then check if connection is good by hard-wiring the router to the laptop. Let me know what happens or if you have solved the problem.

Hello! I very much doubt that Memory will cause the problem you have. Are you using a secure network? if so you may have to pair it again with the p.c. try this! hover over the internet icon on the taskbar (2 computor monitors) it should show wireless networks available, if not right click on it then click set up network or search for available networks, if this fails uninstall the wireless router in the device manager and reload after re booting.
Hope this helps!

Iam trying to connect my laptop to the innet. i have wrt54g router.

Hi jjroyc

Let's see if we can get your laptop connected to the Internet.

First, I have some questions and a few instructions for you.

(01) Is this a new (to you) router?

(02) Do you already have one or more computers connecting successfully to the Internet using this router?

(03) If yes, are any of them connecting wirelessly?

(04) Have you recently (at another location for example) successfully connected this laptop to the Internet? If so, did you connect it "wired" or "wirelessly".

(05) Are you trying to connect your laptop to your router "wirelessly" or "wired"?

(06) If you are trying to connect the laptop wirelessly, turn off your laptop's wireless radio and connect the laptop to the router "wired" instead (using an "Ethernet Patch Cable"). Once we've established that the laptop is capable of connecting to the Internet via the simpler "wired" connection, then we'll move on to the more complex wireless connection.

(07) Please, go HERE to download the manual for your particular router. You will need to determine the version number of the WRT54G model 1st. There are instructions there that will guide you through this.
