Question about Ricoh Aficio 450 Copier
My Aficio 450 prints too lightly. I've followed manual instructions, used the control panel controls, etc. to no avail. Copies just come out dirty looking. Service tech says there is nothing I can do re problem-that it is endemic to the model. Is this the case? If not, what to do?
Please clean the optical parts the mirror and lens and the charge roller. If the OPC drum is work 200000 copies change the drum, cleaning blade and the charge parts.Perform the ID sensor whenever change a parts in the IU unit.,and after perform the auto process control.

If you. It
is not using to toner original, the problem is to toner of low quality there
produces all kind of problems has to toner generic that work very well but
there are others do not serve nor to throw them so that they contaminate.
These produce problems of quality of copy, dirty bottom, clear copy, excessive dirt in the fusing, dirt in the laser, cloggings of paper and can turn crazy to any technician, like thus also to the owner of the copier.

Go to SP Mode
Press "Clear Modes" enter 1 0 7 and press and hold "Clear/Stop for 4 seconds. Press 1
enter 2207 and execute with toner bottle inside
Exit Sp mode
Try it two or three times.
If this doesn´t work try cleaning glass below the toner hopper.
You might need to change
Drum with blade, Charge Roller, Developer, and Transfer Belt.

I concur with Bubbabear; this is a typical indication of a tired developer and replacing it is pretty messy.
Developer is responsible for 'scrubbing' the areas that are to be white while leaving the content areas black.
I checked with my erstwhile supplier, Precision Roller, to see about pricing and was surprised to see how the price has changed since I was last doing service. The number of copiers still using separate toners and developers (non-cartridge machines) is probably shrinking which raises production costs.
If you intend to DIY (as stated, this is messy and should be done in conjunction with other maintenance), you can order it here:
You may find it cheaper elsewhere but I trusted the company for almost 10 years to supply this kind of supplies.

a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US.
click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Tips for a great answer:

To adjust the default lighter/darker setting
1. On the LaserJet 3015, press MENU/ENTER.
2. Use the < or the > button to select Copy setup, and then press MENU/ENTER.
3. Use the < or the > button to select Def. Light/Dark, and then press MENU/ENTER.
4. Use the < or the > button to adjust the setting. Move the slider to the left to make all of the
copies lighter than the original, or move the slider to the right to make all of the copies
darker than the original.
5. Press MENU/ENTER to save the selection.
Page 48 of the User Guide has instructions for adjusting the light/dark setting during a copy job.
Also see the Troubleshooting section of the User Guide for other possible reasons for light/faded copies.
If your copies continue to come out too light, you may need to clean the insert a new toner cartridge or change brands of toner. I tried several "generic" toner cartridges and refills, but my prints and copies were always faded or streaky. After going back to genuine HP cartridges, I haven't had any print quality problems.
