Question about Frigidaire FRS26RLECS Side by Side Refrigerator

Freezer losing temp... intermittent buzzing sound

My Frigidaire FRS26RLECS is having some problems keeping the freezer side cold. Ice is starting to melt. Probably going to lose the food. It's still running, and every few minutes there is a buzzing sound. Fridge side seems okay for now. I turned the temp gauge colder, hope it'll keep the food okay til tomorrow morning (nobody seems to be open Sunday). Fridge serial is LA40315755 (1/2004 production date).

Thanks for any help.

Edit: Actually, it seems the fridge is warming slowly too...

Thank you Techsim. Strangely enough, I kicked the temps a little colder, it seemed to kick something on, because now everything is cooling back down, and the buzzing fan/buzzing noise has stopped. Sounds like it normally did.

I'll probably have someone come out and take a look anyway. Appreciate the help.

Either the start device for the compressor is bad or the compressor has died. The easiest way to tell is to replace the start device. It cost around 30-40 bucks and the part number for it is 218721119. In most of these cases its just a bad start device. The start device is located on the side of the compressor in the bottom back of the unit. It will have a capacitor attached to it that you will want to keep and stick on the new one. If you need anymore help just let me know. Good Luck!

Is this a model=>FGHC2342LF Sounds like the freezer=> 240597203 Thermistor may be defective??There should be one in the freezer that regulates the temp and this one may be causing the compressor to run continious and you may not be getting the correct reading from freezer. Have you seen this?

MY ICEMAKER DOESNT WORK BUT THE WATER DISPENSER WORKS

Hello Valarie Nonos - The issue sounds like it might be related to the temperature in the freezer. What is it set to? Make sure that the temperature is approximately around 8 degrees Fahrenheit or lower. If the freezer is too warm, the ice maker won't cycle properly. If it is properly set, then consult a professional to accurately pinpoint any potentially more serious issues like a faulty ice maker or ice maker valve.

Frigidaire Frig side by side making a loud buzzing noise

it sounds like the compressor, or something near it. it is generally the only moving part in a refrigerator other than the door, so would be my first guess. If it is constantly running, but staying cool in the freezer there may be a small leak somewhere or the compressor is losing power, and pumping slower.

Freezer not keeping ice cream cold

One thing you can do is clean out the area under the ice box where the condenser coils are located. Make sure the fan motor is blowing under there. Clean the kickplate. Get the air restrictions out of the fins and that may bring the freezer temp back up to par.

Frigidaire side-by-side model # FRS26H5ASB4 making humming or buzzing noise

I had the same problem. I found the buzzing noise was caused by ice build up around the fan motor inside the freezer. I believe water must have leaked down around the fan during a defrost cycle. I removed the ice maker, the ice cube bin and ice dispenser auger motor. It sounds complicated, but it isn't too bad. The ice maker and auger are connected with quick connect plugs. So just unplug, remove the screws and remove them from the freezer. You will need to remove several other screws as well, I believe 11 in total as well as the top freezer rack. This will give you access to the white aluminum panel that runs from the top of the freezer to about halfway down the back of the freezer. After you remove the aluminum panel you will see the fan about half way down the freezer. I found a lot of ice around my fan. The fan blades were hitting the ice causing the buzz. Remove the ice and the buzzing is gone. It took me an hour to complete this repair. I hope this helps.

New Frigidaire side by side running constantly and still warm

If the frost build up is on the back panel of the freezer then it has a defrost problem which causes a no cool situation. Let me know more about this frost buildup and what you have done.

Fridge problems - frigidaire

Sort of sounds like the adaptive defrost board is bad and you are not going into a defrost cycle. Do you have ice build up on the lower interior freezer section? Are the vent slots full of frost/ice? Ideally, pull the freezer shelfs out and take the little aluminum panel off the interior back to look at the coils. Are they basically a block of ice and frost? The problem happens when the unit doesn't go into defrost cycle and the coils freeze up. That blocks the air flow in the freezer so you get frozen food at the bottom but soft stuff at the top. And the frige just can't get enough cool/cold air from the freezer section to cool anymore. Power surges or blackouts, etc. can just destroy the defrost circuit board. Without good air flow the unit is not going to cool properly.
