I am not a PC expert and have seen that this could be fixed by removing the ram. where is this and how does a non-expert fix this?

Working on dell dimension 3100/e310 desktop pc. when u press the power button u get a soid green light with beeps and the diagnostic light are green on lights numbered 3 and 4. need help badly

Constant beeping on power up can be a memory issue.

Locate the memory module and reseat it by taking it out and putting it back. Do this with the battery and power adaptor out. The module is normally located under a cover on the base of the computer.

No power up no post no nothing on dimension 3100

An Amber blinking power button indicates a low voltage problem. This can be caused by a defective power supply or a defective motherboard. It sounds like you have isolated the problem to the motherboard since you removed everything but the board and power supply. You may be able to locate one by browsing the internet. Just type in “DELL Dimension 3100 motherboard” and see if you can locate one at a reasonable price.

Won't turn on when I press the front button

This sounds like your power supply; it's the part that the power cord plugs into that converts the power to dc and powers your motherboard, drives, and everything else inside your computer. You can pick one up for around $30 online or $80 at a retail store.

Thanks and please take a moment to rate as fixya.
