Question about Goodman Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

Goodman gas furnace

I have a Janitrol (Goodman) gas furnace. The blower would run all the time. I had the repairman come out a he said it was the control board. My research on-line told me it could be the limit switch. (big price difference). He replaced the board, but I also saw him replace a small wire rod behind the gas burners. It was about 3 inches long and the wire rod was about the diameter of a pencil lead. Was I scammed? Just curious, to late now but I would know not to use them again.

Sounds like it coud have been a flame sensor. the limit switch is usually near the top of the heat exchanger.

My janitrol furnace started to make a lot of noise over the last few days. Could something be loose or does it need to be cleaned?

I hate to say it but it sounds like the bearing in the fan is going out. If your lucky there's a replacement...if not then a new furnace. You will have to have it looked at by a furnace tech.

Its too bad I can't hear the noise then I'd have a better answer for you, sorry.

Both fans run all the time

which fans are you referring to. is it a gas furnace. If gas furnace and inducer fan and blower run all the time, that's usually from a limit switch tripped and needs to be reset.

Janitrol GMP 100-4 replacing blower new blower has extra yellow wire. do I just not connect it

Look on the motor wiring diagram, being that it is yello would lead me to believe that this is
a muti-speed blower. If this is true, look for a place on the terminal board that says "Park"Otherwise make sure you tape it off and move it out of the way

I have outside Goodman-Janitrol furnace and air unit and

two things to try first to get you pointed in the right direction. First disconnect the R or RH wire from the T-Stat. If the furnace turns off (Stops firing w/ fan to turn offabout 90 sec. later) then you more than likely have a bad Thermistat. If it continues to run Pull the R wire from the Furnace circuit board. put door back on furnace if it stops you have a short in the wire. Still Running? Most likely a bad curcuit board. Hope this helps.

No model number...

If this is a split system, look on the side of the furnace, no luck? remove the front panel. look for a little plate or sticker label inside there somewhere. If you are in California, there is a Goodman (A.K.A.) Janitrol, in Ontario CA. They may be able to help. (sorry don't remember phone #)
