Question about Gigabyte Slot 1 GA-6BXE Motherboard

1 Answer

TOTAL UPGRADE Dear Sir/Mrs, I am writing to ask you for your help for upgrading my GA-6BXE motherboard. The system characteristics are as follow: an Intel Pentium 2 processor, 349MHz, 192MB RAM, Winsows XP 2002 SP2. The existing memory is SAMSUNG MPO 100-S64-9646447.(I don't exactly remember where I saw this, maybe on one of the memories). The HD is IBM. MPO U10.1-9646456, MODE DTTA-351010 E182115H6. I would like to ask you what is the maximum upgrade this system can have. Ideally, I would like a 1GB RAM. Only combination is 4x256 SDRAMs? Do I have to buy specific ones, or any brand will do? Can I upgrade the processor as well? Pentium 3 is compatible and what is the maximum MHz? A bigger HD will be compatible? The BIOS can aslo be upgraded? Lastly, what is the aproximate cost of this upgrade? Thanks in advance Petros

>Can I upgrade the processor as well? Pentium 3 is compatible and what is the maximum MHz? Maximum CPU for GA-6BXE is Celeron-1400 (Tualatin core, with PowerLeap Adapter: http://www.powerleap.ca/Products/PL-370T.htm ...and patched bios by BIOS Patcher: http://forum.rom.by/topic5071.html&highlight=6BXE (last official BIOS don`t support Tualatin CPU-s) >A bigger HD will be compatible? With last F3a-version or patched bios - upto 128Gb. >The BIOS can aslo be upgraded? For max CPU / HDD - must be upgraded.

    For 1Gb SDRAM - have to install double-sided 256Mb memory stics (which use 128Mbit-tech) - not single-sided memory modules (256Mbit tech): http://forum.rom.by/topic5071.html&highl...

I want to upgrade my CPU capacity from 1.2 GHZ and want to know my motherboard so much support??? my motherboard is GA-8IDX (845 chipset)

If you go to CPU-Upgrade.com, you can see all of the different processors that are compatible with your motherboard:

http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-Gigabyte/GA-8IDX.html

The ones highlighted in pink are not supported for your motherboard, the ones highlighted in orange may or may not be, and all the ones in white are compatible with your motherboard. It looks like you have several high-end options, up to 2.8 GHz.

Sounds like you've stressed the memory out during the upgrade, try just 1 stick at a time and see how that goes......please let me know ....cheers from Scott

Can Gigabyte GA-8I945PLGE-RH supports 4gb ram?

Sorry, but at the moment you can't do that. This is because the BIOS is programmed to manage only 2GB memory. I searched for BIOS upgrade to resolve the memory issue but with no luck. At the moment your motherboard supports only 2 GB RAM.
